HI,
Open the project through Pano2VR.
Chromes local security will not allow access to xml files.
The way around this is to select "embed xml" found under the HTML tab of the HTML5 output.
This embeds the xml data in the HTML page allowing for opening the page bypassing the restriction.

Martin

Hey Martin

thanks for that tip. It's cut out the error notice and the skin loads fine, but the images won't load: it's just blank and black. This problem is also just in chrome, works fine in safari and firefox.

Thanks again!

Hi,
When you open the project from the application copy the URL in the default browser then past into Chrome.
Thats assuming Chrome is not your default browser.
Let me know how you get on.

I have the same issue with Chrome displaying a black screen when opening an html 5 ".html" file on my local disk. It works fine if the html 5 is on my web site and it also works fine if I paste in the localhost URL the Pano2VR view option generates (as you suggested). I have found I can open the local html 5 (so long as the embed xml option was used) using Internet Explorer, so I have just been using that when I need to view a file locally.

Hi Ben,
Have a look at this tip, this explains why you are seeing all black in Chrome.

Hopki:

Thanks. That looks like it would work well on my local machine that has Pano2VR installed. There is another case that comes up though. Just this week I put a few html5 panoramas on a CD and sent them to an acquaintance who wanted to have a local copy of them. He doesn't have Pano2VR so I don't think he can use this local server technique. I'm not sure he'll be able to open them with Chrome but I'm hoping Internet Explorer will work for him.

Other than this issue and having to jump through a few hoops to get the equivalent of the "flat file" Flash output, I have to say I'm very impressed with html5 as represented in the latest Pano2VR Beta. My website is still all Flash but I'm planning on everything new I post there being multi-resolution html5.

Thanks again!
Ben

In the HTML5 output and under the HTML tab select embed XML.
The XML data will now be embedded in the HTML page so should open up ok,

If I understand everything right:
With Chrome but without Pano2VR installed you cannot view a tour locally ?

Kind regards
Alain

Hi Alain,
With Chrome correct.
This is down to Chromes local file security.
However you can use our Package Player and drag the output folder in the player to view.
