Ursprünglich wurde befürchtet, das beim Überlaufen der Wupertalsperre eine gigantische Flutwelle entlang der Wupper alles in der Talsohle wegspülen würde.
Die Wuppertalsperre ist dann tatsächlich übergelaufen, die große Flutwelle ist ausgeblieben. Ein Überlaufen ist halt etwas anderes als ein Dammbruch. Aber in Punkto Dramatik waren die Wuppertaler schon immer gut.
Spektakulär sieht es dennoch aus.

Mit uralter Ricoh Theta und DSLR gemacht. Und mit Photomatix pro, Autopano Giga, p2vr.

Originally it was feared that when the Wupertal dam overflowed, a gigantic tidal wave along the Wupper would wash away everything at the bottom of the valley.
The Wuppertalsperre then actually overflowed, the great tidal wave did not come. Overflowing is different from breaking a dam. But when it comes to drama, the people of Wuppertal have always been good actors.
Still, it looks spectacular.

On the one hand, Wuppertal had a lot of luck. No deads, no injured, no missing people.
On the other hand, damage is partly enourmous. In the center itself only a few buildings are damaged. Whereas the outer district Wuppertal Beyenburg is affected at the complete valley location. The worst have been looters.
