I'm going to try out the software. Are there any instructions for taking pictures, such as using a mobile phone, or using professional equipment? I didn't find it on the website.....

The quality of mobile phones has come a long way and with Object2VR pro with its Process Images panel, you can get the images looking good.
But...
Having a DSLR and RAW images you can "develop" them to your own tastes and put your stamp on how the images will look.
So you can use whichever device you want as long as the images are to your and your customer's liking.
I would say try both.
