Timer as trigger for subtitles

Hi,
My first post here, but I read many of yours before
The tour I'm building has many nodes that have voice-over. For those, I need to include subtitles.
The thing is, this tour is built partially with Pano2VR and a web programmer that adds another layer of interactivity on top of it (website for a museum).
So, for that part, what I want to achieve is attach timers to each node that requires subtitles. Those timers will act as triggers for the web programmer to display the subtitles.
I'm able to use a timer with a hotspot to do different actions, but I can't figure out how to use the timer alone (with a script as URL) and attach it to a node.
And since the voice-over tracks are quite long, I was thinking of using 3-4 timers for each node to split evenly the subtitles across the node length.
Maybe I'm making this too complicated, but I'd like some input.
Thanks!
