Thumbnail menue bar - limit to existing thumbnails

How can I limit the background frame of the Thumbnail menue bar to the existing (5) thumbnail I am using? Now the frame is to wide, leaving a gray area at the right side.
I understand, the frame changes its size according to screen size na you get arrows if not all thumbs are showing.

We can view with our different browsers and Mac and PC platforms.
Otherwise we would be only guessing.....
