Hi everyone,

I think I’ve discovered a bug in VR mode.

In VR, we can use either controllers or hand tracking (gestures). When using standard controllers, everything works fine. However, there is an issue when using hand tracking.

The Issue: When using the "pinch" gesture (bringing the thumb and index finger together) to click on the video (e.g., to play or pause), the top menu opens unexpectedly. This menu should not be triggered by this action.

Details:
  • This bug is present in tours created with both Pano2VR 7 and Pano2VR 8.
  • It only happens with hand tracking; controllers do not trigger the bug.
  • It is possible that this is not a Pano2VR core bug, but an issue specifically with the Venis_VR skin.
Video

Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a way to prevent the menu from popping up when clicking the video via gestures?

Thanks in advance!

Try changing the action to "press" instead of "click"

I tested your recommendation and changed "Mouse Click" to "Pressed". However, then the video doesn't pause either with the joystick or with gestures. And the menu continues to appear)

Videos won't load in VR mode with Pano2Vr 8…

…and I think it's good to play looping videos but I wasn't to pause or control. (VR mode)
My menu is invisible on start and appears on double pinch. Dissapears on pressing button.

To be honest, I’m not quite sure what you mean. Video works perfectly in VR mode in tours created with Pano2VR 8. You can see this for yourself in the video from my first post—you can tell by the hands that the tour was made in version 8.

I am not reporting an issue with video playback itself. In this thread, I am highlighting a specific bug where the menu opens unexpectedly while using gesture controls (hand tracking), even though it shouldn't.

If you want to see how the video "doesn't work," here is a demo of a tour made in Pano2VR 7: https://el3.studio360.pp.ua/ And here is one made in Pano2VR 8: https://el4.studio360.pp.ua/

Both work fine, but the gesture-triggered menu issue remains the main problem I am addressing here.

You mean this work with a Meta Quest helmet in immersive (VR) mode?

Of course! I’ve attached a video, the topic is literally titled 'VR', and I’m specifically discussing controllers and gesture control... so I’m not sure what point you are trying to make? )))

Just tried it in my helmet, real nice.
Works in version 8. Videos play and pause on pinch… no glitch here.
May I ask how do you load videos?

When I integrate video to background, for animating fire for example, it just won't show.

My apologies, I forgot that in the version 8 project, I had already updated the skin to forcibly hide the menu. However, this doesn't fix the bug; it only masks it. I have now reverted the changes so the bug is visible again.

I’ve recorded a new video demonstrating this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckdF8ZMFszM. You can also test the tour yourself at https://el4.studio360.pp.ua/. Please start any video and use hand gestures (important: use hand tracking gestures, not the controllers) to pause and play the video multiple times. You will see the menu appearing and disappearing at the top, just as shown in my video.

Regarding how I added the video: we might be talking about different things. I am adding it as a 'Video Player' (popup), whereas you might be referring to a video 'pinned' to the panorama (video element).

You're right, I'm using video element…

I can see your glitch, I used the _open_skin, _close_skin objects to have those default icons disappear.

Hello! Since you have a headset, could you please check this issue in immersive mode: viewtopic.php?t=18034 and let me know in that thread if you can confirm my findings? Thanks!

Hi,
We have single pinch and double pinch.
Single pinch to activate buttons, hotspots etc, then double pinch to show and hide the menu.
If you gave it at least 2 seconds between pinching then the menu does not show.
We may need to revisit the time between pinching.

Thank you for the clarification! I’ve tested it again, and you’re right—it has nothing to do with the video playback. It was just a coincidence that I was performing a 'double pinch' while interacting with the video.

In that case, it’s clearly not a bug but a built-in feature. I don't think anything needs to be changed; it works perfectly now that I understand the logic. I am still quite new to immersive mode, and I imagine this is a standard gesture for the pros!

Thank you for helping me clear this up.

UPD: I think the thread can now be closed as resolved. Thanks again!
