Dear gnomes ;-)

Since Apple tried to place a high-priced toy, a number of questions about VR arise....

I have seen the latest videos, but need to ask for more details:

1. Hand tracking works with Apple Vision Pro and when the hands go out of the area, the stare navigation is showing up, right?
2. Is there any other brand with camera hand tracking, or does all others got controllers?
3. Hand Tracking in VR should work for Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest 2 and 3, but does ANY other NOT work?
4. Which of the other VR glasses work with the current P2VR version (with the current limitations)
5. Does the stare navigation work with any of the actual headsets?
6. Does P2VR automatically switch to stair navigation, if the controller actions do not work with P2VR (maybe on Vive PRO)??
7. Is there any way to get a simple "search - click - count" game running with P2VR on (any?) Headset?
8. There are 2 VR skins (feather and venis) - are both comparebale in terms of VR functions and interchangeability - or is one preferable?

At the moment I should create a tour for a HTC Vive PRO and Meta Quest 2+3 and do not know, what to tell the client, in terms of limitations or possibilities...

Thanks again for your response!

I think all current VR headsets use controllers (except Vision pro). Meta Quest 3, 2, 3s, Pico 4, have hand tracking as well.
So, yes, when the hands or controllers are no longer able to be tracked, the stare navigation will appear and works on all headsets as far as we know (we haven’t tested every headset on the market).

In general, the output and skins should work across all VR browsers.

If by search - click - count, you mean gamification, then yes, you should be able to gamifiy the output much like you do with the regular output from Pano2VR.

The two default skins both are built to support all the supported elements and only differ in their graphic design.

For your client, you can use the list here to divise a list of limitations. Also, you can test out all our example tours as they have VR enabled.

Thanks a lot Karyn!

So for GAMIFICATION:

I tried the most simple possibility:
In the feather_vr skin I created a variable (gamepoints) and a rectangle and a text-field:
1. rectangle with action: mouseclick->set var value gamepoints -> add+1
2. also I set the same action in the ht_info "mouseclick->set var value gamepoints -> add+1"
3. text-field just for displaying the value of var "gamepoints"

As I do not have a VR-headset at the moment I use chrome with the "webVR" extension, as Martin showed in the webinar.
The vr-skins from ggn website work as expected.

My local project also works as expected, but this variable does not "count" upwards...
It is corrctly displayed in the text-field, but the value stays at the init-value

@Hopky or @Karyn or any other of the team:
Could you test and provide a simple skin-extension that shows a working example of that need - in a vr-skin.

That would be great and very helpful.

My plan is, to setup the point-hs (ht-info) for this simple "search objects in the tour (individual hotspots) and click on it and reach the max. points, after finding all of them".
I guess you can imagine, what this need is.

I would like to point out that a "game" implementation is certainly an important domain with VR glasses, don´t you think?

Thanks again and again for you phantastic support over the (many!) years !!!

Hi,
Just to let you know, there is an issue with variable placeholders not updating the text box in the immersive view.
This will be addressed in the next point release.

Thanks Martin!

Is there any chance to get this update within the next few weeks?
Or any workaround?

Hi,
maybe a stupid question, but is it possible to open a tour (with gamification) in a browser on the VR-Headset?
If yes, should that work as ususal in Firefox, Chrome, etc.?

Hi,
Yes, the browser is like your desktop browser, it only starts to get funky when you enter immersive mode.

A next question, regarding the standalone VR Headsets:
Is it possible to "load" the tour into the memory of the headset and to enter the tour without being connected to a computer or web?
(What should be the advantage of a standalone VR headset...)

Thanks again!

PS:
I do not need a VR headset other as testing for my clients, and I still read about many negative points - but I think about buying one (for testing...)
What would YOU buy with that need?

Oh I wanted to add (did I share this already?), have you seen this page from our webinar? We listed all the questions people asked and I think you'll find some other questions and answers that would be useful to your quest ;) :

Late reply, but I say thanks, because since Pano2VR 7.1.5 it works as expected.
Thanks for this fast update and fix, so I can keep the deadline for my actual work :-)

Again a question to VR headset content..
A client asked me for a .exe file for the tour, to be able to save it on the VR-headset.
I told him, there is no exe file, it shoud be used via wifi with a link to the server.

So, is there a way to open pano2vr tours directly - without need to use tourviewer software ?

Maybe some new kind of the superb ggn Package Viewer?
......................
Secon question:
Are ther exe files used for games on headsets?
(Or is the ask for a exe file of my client really a question without any knowledge...)

Hi,
In the facebook user group Federico Kiko Debetto posted this:
I added via side quest the apk of a server call "Ksweb" which run Apache that I know as I used to be a web dev.
Once running you simply find the htpdocs folder where to load your P2VR output folders, as much as you want, and then you simply call them from the browser using:
Localhost:8000/YourTourFolder/
