One of my team has mentioned that it is no longer possible to use the inbuilt gyro of a smart device to orient the panorama correctly.
Is this the case, and if so, are there any workarounds?

Maybe they are referring to the fact that permission must be granted before it can be used? You can test this using one of our examples: https://vtour.cloud/0cdw87ml/stve3ty6/. Turn on the gyro in the menu and you'll get an "Allow?" dialog.
