3D Hotspots overlapping other skin elements

Hi, is there any way to ensure that the 3d node hotspots don't overlap other skin elements, so basically stay behind all other content? When I have these in a skin, they often overlap other elements such as navigation boxes or buttons. Not a problem on larger screens, but on mobiles it can be an issue. Thanks!

There is a bug report in for this so very much on our radar but the problem is the 3D transformations breaks the z-index.
