Hi,
I'm attempting to create a build of one of my existing projects that is specifically for use on a Google Cardboard containing an iPhone. The URL for this is here:
http://tomjackson.photography/interacti ... cardboard/
It works perfectly on an iPad running iOS 11.2 but doesn't work at all on an iPhone XR running iOS 13.2.
I suspect I know that the problem is: the changes Apple have made to the gyroscope access! However, I'm not sure how to fix the problem.
I tried adding 'Enter VR' and 'Gyroscope' buttons to the skin but they don't do anything. I've tried using Chrome and Safari on the iPhone XR and have tried clearing the cache for both browsers.
Can someone please help?
Thanks,
Tom
Dedicated iPhone Cardboard Build
Hi there,
Same here, clients with iPhone's report that the gyroscope doesn't work in VR-modus. Does anyone know how to solve this?
Kind Regards,
Erwin

Hi Guys,
Make sure you're using Pano2VR 6.1.3.
Delete the output folder and rebuild the output, this is so any old files are not used.
What happens now is when you first open the Gyro iOS will ask you if you want to allow it.

Hi Hopki,
Thanks for the suggestion, I'm gonna try that!

Thanks very much for the reply Hopki.
I'm afraid I have already tried your suggestions though. I'm running 6.1.3, the link I provided contains a completely fresh build of the project and I cleared the cache on both Mobile Safari and Chrome on my iPhone during testing.
Still nothing, I'm sorry to report. Do you have any other suggestions?

Hi Hopki,
Just got feedback from my customer with the 6.1.3. build and no success, still doesn't work, and no question about the gyro.
Do you have any other suggestions?
Thank you,
Kind Regards,
Erwin

Hopki found the solution for me, (thank you!)
You need to have a button to enable the Gyro, this is due to all the new security measures in place by the browsers.
So you need to add a splash screen, then when you click to close, this can then also activate the gyro.
I'm really pleased to hear you have a fix EWolff!
Thanks for the reply Hopki. The link to my project is in my first post but here it is again for your convenience:

As this is a dedicated build for the iPhone Cardboard setup, can I still add a splash screen?

Hi TJackson,
I also found out that for my customer it didn't worked because:
- he had an iphone 6, ios 12.4.5
he tried it on an iphone X, ios 13.4 and it worked fine.
For the old iphone he had to turn on the gyroscope under "access movement and direction" and then it works fine.
Hope it helps for you.
Kind Regards,
Erwin

Hi,
I'm afraid I still haven't managed to get this working and would greatly appreciate your help in doing so.
The following project really needs to work in Google Cardboard style headsets with Apple iPhones:
http://tomjackson.photography/interacti ... cardboard/
As you will be able to see, I have tried adding fullscreen, enter VR and gyroscope buttons but nothing makes the iPhones I'm testing with actually work like a headset!
I'm using the 'cardboard' skin in Pano2VR 6.1.8 pro (with the buttons added) and the 'cardboard' HTML template but the gyroscope is not activated. The buttons don't seem to do anything either.
If you have any further suggestions, please do let me know.

iOS will block the gyro if the website is not using https://, so the gyro will not work with sites using http://
This is regardless of which browser/settings you're using, the iOS overrides this.
