Pano2VR 6.1 beta How to use? "Street View browser can connect nodes to external PhotoIDs/Tours"

In the release notes for Pano2VR 6.1 beta there is a mention of "Street View browser can connect nodes to external PhotoIDs/Tours". I've tried right clicking on an image in the Street View Browser and selecting "Add Link to External Panorama". This adds it to the column External Links under the Google Street View window.

Now what? What's the use of this feature? I was hoping that maybe it would allow us to include panoramas hosted on Google in a Pano2VR tour.

Hi,
Yes it does but you need the tours in your Street View Browser.
You can open one project and while it is open select a node as you have done.
Then you need to click the Upload Project button.
This after a few hours it will add a link between the tours.
To make a return link you would open the other tour and do the same thing making a link back.
This works well, but it did take awhile before I saw the links.

Thanks for the reply Hopki!

I'm still trying to figure out how these links work and what they actually accomplish. Could you describe a potential use case for this?

Hi,
As an example you could make a tour of a shopping centre.
Then each shop have its own tour.
You can then link from the shopping centre node the first node of the shop.

Keeping the projects separate is useful as you can then swop out tours as and when shops change.

How.
You have both tours in your street view browser or you have the project files on your system.
If you don't have the project files you can open a new project and download the tour to your desktop and save it.

So you should have both p2vr profiles.

Open the shopping centre tour, select the node that is outside of the shop you want to link too.
Open the street view browser and select the first node of the shop tour.
Right button click and select Link to external panorama.

The selected shopping centre node will now have a link to the first node of the shop tour.
To make a link from the shop to the shopping centre node you would open the shop tour and select the node that will link back to the shopping centre.
Then in the tour browser select the shopping centre node and right button click and select Link to external panorama.

Basically to have to make links both ways.

Hi Martin, does that mean we can only link the tour from external pano but only from the tours done by ourselves? How about adding to the ones done by Google?

Hi SebaPL,
It would not be good if you could link to any other tours other than your own.
So no, only ones you built.

So reading this post the "add link to external Panorama" seem to make sense but then what is "Connect to current Panorama" do.

The description in the Documentation is not clear
Connect to Current Panorama – Connects this panorama in Street View to the current node in the Tour Browser.
Add Link to External Panorama – Creates a connection between the selected panorama in the current project to a panorama in the Street View Browser that is not part of the current project.

Hi,
Connect to current Panorama.
Say you have lost your original project so you decide to to recreate it.
So you now have a project locally and the same project in Street View.
You need to connect the local project to the one in your Google account.

Select a panorama in the local projects Tour Browser, so it is now selected.
Open the Street View browser and select the matching panorama in the Street View browser, you can now right button click and connect the two.

However, there is another reason to be able to do this.
Sometimes when you upload a panorama you may get a 404 image not found right after.
This is because Google issues a Photo ID to the panorama, and then while uploading they decide to change it.
So when the upload has finished you see the 404.
To fix this issue, select the panorama in the Tour Browser, then select the matching panorama that shows the 404, you can then connect the two fixing the Photo ID issue.
