Hello, I'm new to pano2vr so be gentle.

I'm trying to get preview thumbnails when I highlight over the image thumbnail. I've even gone thru these forums and extracted as much as I could understand about making/adding it to the skin (downloaded some image preview thing). So right now I get the square preview window that pops up with the red X, so i've make some progress. The preview window pops up but the image file cannot be found. So I imagine I need to create the thumbnail image etc. I just dont know how it links it to the proper image.

Is there a plain step by step tutorial? or a guide.
I basically want to move my cursor to the image icon and it show a 128x128 thumbnail preview image.

Hi SScott,

Just to clarify when you say you are trying to get 'preview thumbnails' what exactly is the preview of? Is it a preview of a node or something else?

Are node and hotspot the same thing?
Image node?
(for lack of better words) The image using the bullseye thing. The one that can be a tour hotspot or an image hotspot, or info hotspot, etc

Hi SScott,
To be clear, we have Point and Polygone Hotspots.

With Point Hotspots we have preconfigered types:
• URL (ht_url)
• Tour Node (ht_node)
• Image (ht_image)
• Video (ht_video)
• Info (ht_info)

The Tour Node (ht_node) hotspot can have a popup preview image of the next node (panorama).
To see this go to the skin editor and open the components toolbox.
Select and add the Node Hotspot Silhouette or Simplex to a new skin.

Once added if you expand all the elements using the white triangle you will see a container with the ID hotspot_preview.
If you expand this you will see the Node Image element, in the skin, it has the ID ht_preview_nodeimage.
Pano2VR will automatically generate all the node images for all the nodes of the tour. When you hover over a node hotspot it will show.

The title of this post is thumbnail preview for image hotspots.
For us, an Image Hotspot when clicked will open a popup image and not open the next node.
You can manually add a preview image for an Image Hotspots but you will need to build this yourself in the skin editor.

Please see this page for the different hotspots: https://ggnome.com/doc/pano2vr/6/p2vr-t ... /#hotspots
Also when you first open Pano2VR you will see the welcome screen, there is a link called Getting Started. This links to all of the video tutorials.
There is also a link to our Documentation, this can also be accessed through the help menu at any time.
Regards,
Hopki

I think this is what I'm looking for, point hotspot for images. I have gone thru a lot of the pages and tutorials, but none of them seem to exactly point to exactly what I can do for an thumbnail preview. The above description is what I am looking for I believe but I havent managed to find it. I tried searching it but I felt like I was going in circles.

So the basics, I'm creating a virtual tour and each tour node has several image hot spots. When you hover over a tour node a preview thumbnail shows you the next location, I want to create the same for image hotspot that shows a small previews of what image will pop up when you click that image hotspot. The information I have found has not helped me specifically with that.

I've have messed around in the skin editor, so far I have gotten as for as getting the preview thumbnail window to pop up and show a red X where the image is supposed to be (indicating file not found) I've tried a couple of things to get the image for there but I dont exactly understand how it links it. I understand it doesnt auto create the thumbnail like it does for the tour node, so I'm trying to figure out where I need to put the image preview thumbnail and how do I link it to that specific image hotspot, since there will be several image hotspots per tour node.

Hi SScott,

All done. You can find the tutorial and sample files at https://tonyredhead.com/pano2vr-little- ... nail-image

I've only just finished so I haven't had time to run through it so let me know if you run into any issues.

cheers,

YES! this is exactly what I was looking for. Plus it helped me understand the skin editor in more details than I previously understood.
1 more question. is it possible to have more than 1 thumbnail preview? like if I had multiple images? scattered throughout the node? each with their own specific thumbnail?

Yes it certainly is. I'll write up an addendum that carries on from the original tutorial and show you how to add additional hotspots and thumbnails using a single Hotspot Template and Variables.
