Hi Good Gnomes,

I have problems with P2VR 6.1 beta 3 crashes when I create a patch. The crash occurs when the image reloads. Happens with both PSD and TIF patch files as well as 16 bit TIF and 8 bit jpg panoramas. Because P2VR crashes if the patch info is saved in the p2vr file, I have zipped up the files using 7zip. Patch edited in Painshop Pro 2019.

Just checked - even happens if I select 'Lock Position' (default in V5 but not current beta)

Hi Drbob,
Please confirm you are getting the same as me.

Using Windows 10.
Downloaded your project.
Open with Pano2VR 6.0.6 the project opens and the patch is applied in the viewer, all is ok.
Open in Pano2VR 6.1, open the project, it waits a few seconds then Pano2VR closes.
So it is crashing with Pano2VR 6.1 Windows.

Please make sure you have "flattened" the image in Photoshop or whatever image editor you are using.
I did this with your patch and I was then able to open Pano2VR.

Testing on macOS, all opens ok.
I have made a bug report as this should be fixed.
Regards,
Hopki

Thanks for investigating this so quickly.

I'm using:
Win 10 1903 Intel integrated graphics (SSD and intel Optane cache)
Paintshop Pro 2019.

P2VR 6.06 - All works well

P2VR 6.1beta 3
- OK provided:
1) Create and save project before I extract the patch (or else unclear where patches folder should be)
2) Extract patch and save project before I flatten image and close the image editor

- Crash if image not flattened.

There may be an issue if project not saved after patch extracted and edits complete. Will try to clarify if I get more time tomorrow evening.

Hi Hopki,

I have just tested for crashes caused if project file not saved correctly. All tests as above (ie Windows)

To get a sucessful patch with 6.1 beta 3 the project file must be saved at the following points:

1) Before the patch is extracted (or the patch file may not be saved in the correct location)
2) AFTER the patch is extracted and BEFORE the image editor saves the patch. If not the project file does not include the information about the patch.
3) Image file (TIFF or PSD) must be flattened before it is saved.

Hope this helps.

Many thanks for such great software and excellent service.

Hi,
Thanks for the information.
Makes sense you need to save first, then the patch folder can be relative to the project file.
But all the information you have provided I have added to the bug tracker.

Thanks for looking into this. Unfortunately I'm still having problems, even when following procedure in last post. Have switches to PNG format for the patches which seems reliable. Will try again when next beta is out.

Cheers
