I'd be interested in some options for creating floor plans that might be a little quicker/easier than say, Photoshop. I've looked at some online software and there is Google SketchUp but before I go to the effort of learning a method, it would be nice to get some recommendations.
Thanks!
Creating Floor Plans
Hi;
Its been ages since I've posted here but I came in with a query so as a repayment to the forum if I can help I'll try.
For floor plans dont ever use photoshop; if you have access to illustrator it makes it a bit easier.
However I'd stay away from both if you have access to a low cost/free CAD program.
Let me know what your concept/proposed use/ output is and I'll try and point you in the right direction.
Regards
K

Thank you!
This is more of a personal project than something I want to do on a regular basis but I am trying to help a relative sell their house. I took photos throughout the house and now when I am putting the tour together I realize a multi-level floor plan would be a nice addition. I will probably have to go back and take measurements. The reason I mention Photoshop is that it is the software I am most familiar with. I thought I had a drawing/CAD app but I can't find it in my Applications. No illustrator but I do have Affinity Designer and I just found some floor plan tutorials for it. I might go that way unless you have a better suggestion but thanks for pointing me in this direction.

Hi,
Are you looking to create flat 2D or rendered 3D floor plans?

I think for this project a 2D plan is all I need. To be honest, I had not thought of 3D but I guess you might be able to create some effects like the Matterport views I have seen online.
Browsing through the Mac App store, I believe I found a cheap App called simply "Floor Design" that does the trick and will save me a lot of time. Too early for me to recommend it but here is the web site in case anyone wants to check it out. Unfortunately no demo.

That apple one looks like it will do the trick for you.
I'm on pc so cant test it for you.
Affinity should do the trick ; Just make sure you are using vectors so you have nice sharp lines
One of the guys here sells skins Arturo Nahum and has a multilevel skin set up for houses.
His stuff works really well.
pm me and I'll send you his mail.
Hope it all goes well
