For GearVR tours check out this post: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=11583
Iv tested this and it works ok, does not support info popups but does image popup so you can make text boxes out of images.

For Android devices:
Does anyone have some experience and can give some hints, how to use a webserver, like:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... .kws&hl=ru

I have it installed (easy) but don´t have any idea, how to use it, how to open the local stored panotour (how to open the index.html in a browser) with the help of that webserver. Because Firefox does not open the local html file on my Samsung S5.

I can "send" the html file with ES file explorer to firefox, but ff tells me:
can not open the index.html file...

Hi Soulbrother,

I tried the same kWS webserver on my S8 and couldn't get it to work.

Have a look at my new PhoneGap tutorial, "Offline Virtual Tours for Android using Adobe PhoneGap Build", it may provide you with an alternative way to have your tours on Android devices.

Recently read that Firefox no longer can run local files beginning with Version 58.0.2.

Just a short replay today, cause in a hurry:

Tony: Many thanks for your infos!
First (short) impression: Could be to much workload to deal with that, for "simply" showing local panos.
Will have a closer look into, the next days...

Dave: thanks also, although it is a disappointing info ;-)

I also tried to use the VRTourviewer App, but unfortunately it does not support Samsung S5.
No luck today...

Anyone more ideas (maybe a bit simpler as Tonys elaborately tutorial)?

The marketing of all manufacturers tell us users, that with mobile devices, everything is very easy to do.
Just install our app and enjoy your life...
Bullshit...

No problem.

Don't be put off by the length of the tutorial, it's only long because I list each point and illustrate it. Once you have your logins done it's only, at most a 10 minute process to build the app and install it. Plus it works full screen, you get a nice icon on your desktop and you can share it with other Android users.
I also tried to use the VRTourviewer App, but unfortunately it does not support Samsung S5.
Unfortunately I couldn't get the .apk to install on my Samsung S8

Are you talking about the Android one or the iOS one. I'll admit that the iOS one is elaborate, generating all those iOS certs is a "one-time" pain.

Agree with you there!

A testversion of VR Tourviewer for Cardboard is now available: https://www.vrtourviewer.com/download-v ... cardboard/

Should work fine with Samsung S5, tested with Samsung S4.

Tony:

Your tutorial looks really interesting... I will have a look at it..

I was thinking:

If you have several tours, then it would be unpractical to have an app for every tour...It would be interesting to have an app that acts like a viewer and that you can download individual tour within that app..

Have you ever seen that?

How difficult would be to create that app?

On my Samsung S8 I use an app called Viseni Tour Loader and on the iPad I use several apps Mockups or Kolor Eyes unfortunately I don't think either of those are available at the moment on the iTunes store but you can get Viseni for iOS and I've just downloaded and tested it on my iPad.

Here's some more information on it in this post viewtopic.php?f=20&t=13193

The only issue with the iOS version is that I couldn't get a zip version to work but a GGPKG worked fine. They have limited number pano/watermarked free version but the paid ones are really cheap.

cheers,

Tony

I created a polygon hotspot following this instruction:
https://tonyredhead.com/pano2vr/polygon-hotspots-proxy

then created an output and uploaded it to my iPhone using the App "Documents" ...The tour loads perfectly however when I touch the screen in the area where the polygon hotspot (with information) is located, I get the polygon to get highlighted but the information box never comes up..
If I watch the same tour on my phone, however the tour is loaded on the website, then the text box functions perfectly....Is that normal?

does the app documents restrict the functionality of the tour or I am missing something here???

I think my comments regarding the App Documents, were wrong. I had an issue with the skin. Now that I have amended those issues in the skin, the tour is running in "Documents" perfectly

The nice thing about PhoneGap it's an actual app and it just opens straight into your tour. If you don't want to go the whole publishing route you can distribute it to devices that are registered on your developer account. Great for small marketing teams etc.
Hi Tony,

Has anyone figured out how to manually create an apk file outside of Adobe PhoneGap build so that we can bypass the 50mb free user size limit?

Hi,

I'm a CC subscriber so I have a 1Gb limit. I know a paid sub gives you 100mb but these days that's really not much. Sorry can't be of any help.

I'm sure there are other Android builders out there.

Hi,

I went ahead and dug into it. I was able to create a relatively easy process for converting PhoneGap builds into an Android Studio build and then compiling a signed apk. There are no size limits and you can even publish the app to the Google Play store with a little more tinkering.

I had the video up but I took it down and am going to make another for clarity.
