In 2008 I did a series of aerial panoramic images documenting the damage from Hurricane Ike along the Bolivar Peninsula on the Texas coast. This past summer I went back and recreated the images to show how the peninsula looks today, 9 years later. There are 11 locations and I did a low altitude and high altitude pano at each spot, now 44 panos in total. I've spent some time this fall studying other interfaces trying to come up with a logical way to group and display a set of images like this, two levels and two different dates for each location.

So this is what I came up with:

Hi Mark

Welcome back. Happy New Year 2018.

WOW this was a lot of work. Great presentation ! Great panoramas. Sharp Clear and taken on a sunny day !!!

Are these done with a drone quad copter or your 18 minute fly time RC helicopter ?

The ones from 2008 were taken with a Canon Rebel underneath one of my large rc helicopters. The new ones from 2017 were shot with a quadcopter. Much easier to shoot now than back in the day!

Wow. Great imagery with a deeper meaning then just a "nice landscape". Thanks for sharing!

This grouping of panoramas works well. But I think it would be easier to navigate if the left menu was only locations. Then you could choose a location from left and a specific version of this location from right. Right now you have the version selection doubled and that got me confused :)

Very nice,
If I may inject, I would make the Tooltip text box two lines high and then select word wrap so the Hotspots previews can show more text.
Cheers,

Thanks for the feedback! I've struggled with how to display these panos for a while. I found the Tallinn University tour by lveerde and liked the way his drop down menus worked. It took quite a bit of work to build a menu like his which worked on both desktops and tablets.

I agree that it might be better to just show a list of the locations, without the dropdowns, and keep the date selections in the upper right corner.
