Hi !

How can I get a "Little Planet" inscribed in a FULL SQUARE, instead of the one looking like aREAL CIRCLE, in a square background ?

I can get it very easely in PTGui Pro, but not in Pano2VR, be it an older version or the latest version 5 !

Here's 2 examples, using the same equirectangular image ! The first one is from Pano2VR2 (V. 3.14):

...and the second from PTGui Pro:

Apart from the technical things (and the slightly different post-processes of both images), one must agree that, aesthetically speaking, the PTGui image is much much more pleasant than the Pano2VR one :-( !!

Thanks in advance for any tips...

:-)

HI J-P,
The projection is stereographic and Pano2VR 5 has this under the Transformation output.
Version 4 has the Angular Map which is different.
Have a look at this video.

Thanks for the clarification, Hopki !

...now, just another question: ho can I setup Pano2VR 5 to automatically save the files in the ORIGINAL directory ?

In "Settings" > "Files" > "Output" > "Default Folder", how to set the original files folder as the default, and in "Default Filename", how to set the file name to "original_file_name" + "_P2VR" ?

Thanks in advance for more help...

I did that just for fun - the input panorama to beta V5 ver 4 was only 7200x3600 and the set output was 1500x1500, os: Windows 10. The os collapsed...I needed hard reset. Then I tried again and it happened again. I moved to another station with Windows 10 and the error was: "the instruction at 0x00007FFF476DBF0 referenced memory at 0x00000000000. The memory could not be written.

Windows are greedy with ram how much memory do your PC have ?

@ JPS Pano2VR5 do automatically save the files in the ORIGINAL directory with the project P2VR-file (.p2vr)
rendered project in folder output, output 1, output 2 and so on
if you drag and drop or start a new project
i have never ended up in any other folder
what Windows os do you run? Do you run on a administrator account or with administrator privileges

Strange are the Little Planet made from huge cube face there have been crashes here
but never from a normal 15000x7500 creating pure artwork for print .

Hi Svendus ! Thanks for responding !

As for the screen-copies, both mine looks like yours (except in the 1rst for the "output" and "pano" names) ! ...and I'm running Windows 7 with all administrator rights !

Please calm down and don't jail with captions... we are gentlemen (and ladies sure) here
It was fully competent remark as I warned about the issue which had occured when I tried how to do the ""Little Planet" in a SQUARE frame".
Merry hollidays :D

Hi J-P,
“...now, just another question: ho can I setup Pano2VR 5 to automatically save the files in the ORIGINAL directory ?”
Hmmmmmm Pano2VR should save the output to an output folder in the same director as the input image?

For the naming convention go to settings => Files and then Default file name just enter $n.
This will then use the input images file name.
You can of course add $n_P2VR.

Thanks !

Now, if I delete the field "out" in Settings > Files > Output > Default Folder, wouldn't the file be saved in the ORIGINAL folder, instead of the "OUT" sub-folder ?

Hi J-P,
Should do, In version 5 just remove The default folder and default filename from the setting preferences.
This then will save all files to the input images directory as the old version 3.x did.
But the reason why we have the output folder is to make it easier for you to upload only the files needed to display the panorama and not the p2vr and skin file.

Hopki
