I've been using pano2vr for a while now and have been very happy with the results. That said, I've always thought the resolution on iPads was a little low. At first I thought this was a hardware issue, but when comparing my 360s with those produced with (sorry) krpano, I see quite a big difference in quality. As a result, I have downloaded a trial of krpano to test it out. Here's the same image produced using the two pieces of software:

Pano2vr: http://visual360.co.uk/beamish/shop.html
KrPano: http://www.visual360.co.uk/new_krpano_360/

On PCs / Macs image quality is pretty much identical. However, there is quite a big difference when viewed on iPads and Android.

I have uploaded screenshots of my html5 settings here: http://www.visual360.co.uk/pano2vr_settings.zip

Could anyone help out with this? I really do not want to change to another piece of software if it can be avoided...

Thanks in advance,

Hi Nick,

your tile size for HTML5 output is too small (1440px) compared to the flash output with its 4939px tile size. That is why the resolution on iPad is low.
Use multiresolution for both flash and html5 output to get the best result.

Thanks, Jare.

The problem I get us that if I increase the tile size anymore, the rotation becomes laggy. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hei Nick,

in this Thread:
i had the same Problem with HTML5 Panos.
Please check this Panorama with your iDevice:

Is in unsharp or blurry?
Which Version of pano2vr do you use? I changed the interpolation Filter to Lanzcos3 and now the images look much better.

Hi Sebastian,

Thanks for getting back to me. I had a look at your shot. Lovely location! To my eye, the desktop Flash version is still clearer than than the html5 on my iPad4. I notice that you have the custom pointer selected. I find that if I disable this, I get smoother panning.

I have since downloaded a trail version of Pano2VR V5 and getting much better results:

Don't know if some improvements have been made, or whether it was an issue with my setting. I followed your advise of changing to Lanzcos3. I've also upped the tile-size to levels of 1875 and 3750. Panning is smooth when outputted from v5.

I'm happy with these results and will be buying the license shortly.

Thanks for you help!
