Audio hotspot stereo panning

Can an audio hotspot pan across in the stereo soundscape as someone looks around a scene? It seems that it currently just fades up and down. Panning would be a really useful audio behaviour, especially as VR headset viewing starts taking off.

This worked in Flash but not in HTML5, I can't say I know the reason for this but I will add it to the list.
