Hi,

I'm working on the following :

http://Www.visual360.co.uk/vr/into/dev9

This is still a work in progress. So far it seems to be going to plan in Flash format but need ipad compatibility. At the moment, the skin doesn't appear when I export in html5. Any ideas where I'm going wrong?

Thanks in advance,

Mrt

Hello again,

I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas about this. From what I've read on here, not all actions are supported in html5 output. Is this likely to be the cause of the problem or could it be something else.?

I've tried changing all the change element position actions to set but that doesn't improve the situation. I is there a comprehensive list of what works and what doesn't work in html5? The other actions I'm using are show / hide element and open next panorama? Are these safe?

I'd really appreciate your thoughts on this as it's getting a little frustrating.

Thanks I advance.

Hi Mrt,
I am looking at your link with an iPad and don't see anything at all just a white screen?
The thing to remember is containers are active elements so containers covering part of the screen will stop interaction.
Other than this then most things should work.

Thanks for getting back to me on this hopi.

I'm away from the office until Monday and made some changes before I left. Do you know why I'm only getting a white screen now? I don't think there are any containers covering the whole screen?

Before I did whatever I did, and I you could see the panoramas but there was no skin at all. Also, the hot spots to load the next panorama appeared as the default red dots rather than the arrows that appear in the flash version. The do you know why this was happening?

Thanks again,

Mrt

As a thought,
You must select the skin for the HTML5 output as well as the Flash output.
The fact you are seeing the default red dot point hotspot tells me you may not have done this.
But without see your project this is only a guess.

Why I am seeing only a white screen on my iPad, again I can not say for sure until I see your project.

Hi Hopki,

what's the best way forward with this? Should I send you the skin and pano2vr files when I get back? If you could take a look at them, that would be great!

Thanks,

HI,
Yeah, send them so I can have a look, you can rename the preview image and use that as the input, save file size so you can upload it as a working project.

HI Hopki,

I've uploaded the files here:

http://www.visual360.co.uk/dev.zip

I think everything's is there except the actual panorama as this would have made the file size huge. You can just slot in any image for the purpose of testing...

I've also updated the online work in progress here so that it reflects exactly what's included in the .zip file above.

I look forward to hearing where I'm going wrong.

Thanks again for your help!

Hi Mr.T
I have had a look and found that its the side_menu that is crashing the skin in HTML5 output.
This element has lots of child elements but noticeably you are using odd file names such as "class1.x" and "class4.06".

I would strongly recommend you avoid using such names as it may confuse things. There is a document regarding naming convention: http://gardengnomesoftware.com/wiki/Rec ... Characters

How I would debug this is make copies of your ggsk file and remove elements, each time checking if the skin returns. You may have to refresh the browser window each time also.
I also noticed that your targets for web pages are missing the underscore: blank, should be: _blank.

Thanks Hopki,

Is it likely to be the number of child elements that's causing the problems? Or do you think it's just the naming? The latter is relatively easy to fix, but I'm not sure how to get around the former...

Hi,
It's not the number of child elements. To be honest I am not 100% sure what is causing it, just had a quick look. Naming conventions have caused many problems in the past so this is a good place to start.

Hi,

I have changed all the .s to _s and it's working in html5 on Firefox. I've tested it on a number of iPad simulators but the image does some weird warping thing. I think this is a limitation of the simulator though,as a number of 360s by different developers do the same thing. I really need to get an ipad of my own but in the meantime, would you mind testing this? http://www.visual360.co.uk/vr/into/dev10 Only one 360 is in the folder so none of the links will work.

Thanks again...

Hi,
Just tested on an iPad 2.
All working ok however you may want the menu not slide in so far as part of the arrow is chopped off and difficult to hit to slide back out.
Also on open the top slide down menu is to the right, when you close the side menu it also slides to the left...
Now open the top slide menu and it slides down diagonally right, then when closed up goes straight up and down from there on.

Hi,

Thanks for this. I'm experiencing a further problem when adding in the flash fallback option. The flash version works fine on a PC, but the iPad version is just showing a white screen. I'm using exactly the same skin as the html5 version you just looked at.

The url is http://www.visual360.co.uk/vr/into/dev9/lobby.html

I've attached the pano2vr file in case that helps to diagnose the problem.

Thanks again so much for your input.
