Embedding Video in a Panorama

Hi guys
I'm new to the boards and new to using Pano2VR.

I was wondering if someone could give me a link to a tutorial, or explain in detail how to create a hotspot that when clicked will play a short video within a frame in the panorama window. The video can either be an .swf/.mov in the same folder or a you-tube/vimeo hosted video.

Just like in the example:
http://gardengnomesoftware.com/samples/pano2vr_3/ntour/

I've had a look all over but can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Thanks very much for your help!

Hi Chris
The video was embedded from YouTube using the image/SWF loader tool which is in the skin editor.
Are you embedding the SWF from Pano2VR in your own Flash project?
If so I am sure some one will step up and lend a hand, but if not I can move this thread to the skins forum as it may get a better response there.

Hi thanks for this tip
Based on your advice I've now got my video to load.... but it plays as soon as the pano loads, its not embedded in a box, and I don't understand the actions and parameters sufficiently despite plenty of experimentation.

Can anyone give me a full explanation or tutorial on how to successfully embed video so that it will load when a hotspot is clicked please?

So in the 'Tips' section is a guide on how to add a You Tube video - but why does this same method not work for embedding Vimeo?

"Adding a YouTube Video
From Garden Gnome Software
Jump to: navigation, search
For Pano2VR V3

Step 1

Open YouTube and select the video you want to embed. Make sure that you can embed the video, not all can.
Right button click on the video to show the context menu, click “Copy embed code”, please note this will not be in the context menu if the owner of the video does not want you to embed it.

Open a document and paste this code to see it:

<object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/BfIAKj3Gl1E?version=3"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/BfIAKj3Gl1E?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></object><br />

The bold areas are what you will need to embed the video, file location and window size, http://www.youtube.com/v/BfIAKj3Gl1E?version=3 and 390, 640.

Step 2

Open the skin editor and click on the Add external Image/SWF button. Skin external.png
Add an external box in the skin and open it.

Set the window size of the external box to match the size of the embedded video and copy and paste in the code in to the External Url text field. Anchor centre and out put the file.

Loading: this check box unloads the video when hidden which means another video will be able to be played. "

Hi
As this does not appear to be an Action Script question or matter and I was not answered in my post or even PM's.
I have moved this thread to a more suitable place.

@KarinC
Do you have the Url of your video?
It may be you can use a text box and iframes in both the Flash and HTML5 outputs.
If you can provide a Url with your video I will make a quick project.

Hi Hopki
Sorry didn't mean to post in the wrong place, did reply to your PM though :)

Do you know to embed a Vimeo hosted video and could you please teach me? I've managed to embed YouTube using the tutorial but the same workings using a Vimeo link didn't work. I'd much rather use Vimeo to YouTube because the quality is far superior.

Thanks for your help.

Boom! Found the solution in these two threads:
http://gardengnomesoftware.com/forum/vi ... f=6&t=6311

http://gardengnomesoftware.com/forum/vi ... meo#p20716

and some reading from Vimeo here:
http://vimeo.com/api/docs/player

Use Thomas' skin as a template, then all you need to do is add a hotspot, set the Skin_ID of that hotspot to hs_vimeo and add the digits from the end of your vimeo url to the hotspot url field (eg: 26196701)

Cheers :D
