Hi Martin,
Just tried it on my (brandnew, bought it this morning) iPad, and it works fine!
Except for one thing: the edges of the top cube faces of all three panos are visible as faint grey lines.

Hi Erik
Thanks’ for having a look, the panos are my very low res tests, so yes they have the lines visible.

What did you think of the meeting?

It was great! Such a shame you couldn't stay longer : (

Downside: being there made me spend a LOT of money today on fruity hardware, a thing I thought I'd never do!

Hummm, I am resisting for the moment, but one day.
Can you store panos on it, or do you have to book mark them like the I Phone?

You can, but not 'as is'.
There are apps that can copy individual web pages (free) and complete websites (commercial), AND you can 'Jailbreak' them so you can install a proper file manager.
Jailbreaking also makes it possible to install a Flash-app, but I don't know yet what exactly it can and cannot do.
I'll see how far I can get without hacking it first ; )

I just bought and tried an app called 'Offline Pages' version 1.2, but it looks like it cannot save and/or show HTML5 files : (
A message pops-up with the text 'Error loading panorama XML' when I try to open stored versions of Thomas' demo pages.
The button graphics and the panorama itself are then not visible in the page.
This app appears to be using its own web browser, not Safari.

Let's see what else is there....

Cheers!

Hi,

you can use GoodReader to Store your Html5 Panos on the Ipad.

Just copy the Folder with your Pano and you can Watch your Panos
offline on the Ipad. Works fine for me.

There is a special software on his side to copy files without iTunes.

p.s. sorry for my english.

Hi Erik
That doesn’t sound good, I thought that if you were in wifi range, loaded a tour then use the + to book mark it, the I Phone/IPad cashed the web pages.

I know my I Pod touch does, although it only has enough memory to store two pages in a tour, I would have thought the I Pad can store many moor.
I have used my I Pod Touch at Network meetings to shut up all the “I Dudes” (Quoting Smooth) who say Flash has had its day, right!

All the best

That was a golden tip Oliver, thanks a LOT!

Goodreader for iPad works like a charm for showing individual HTML5 panos!
I just uploaded a zip file containing a number of Pano2VR-generated panos to my iPad using the supplied USB cable, unzipped them in Goodreader, and opened them successfully.
Tap the screen, and you have a completely fullscreen panorama!
Great!!!

Cheers!

Hi Erik
Is that single panos, or will full tours work as well, say a five pano tour etc.

My quote was actually "iDud", it is the iDudes that love anything in the iDud range and think the whole future revolves around it. Which of course it doesn't!
Flash will be around to fight another day. I think we should release the iFlash. I tried it, but the missus immediate reaction was "get that thing away from me!" Before changing her mind (as women do!)
So it was a partial success, we'll as far as a well worn prototype goes....

Regards, Smooth 8)

Good news: locally stored HTML5 with cube faces of 1920x1920 pixels work just fine in an iPad!
Image quality is effing brilliant!
Panning is smoooooth as butter, no stutters of any kind.

This was with a pano with no skin elements, next I'll try skinned and interlinking ones.
Fingers crossed: if it all indeed works without an internet connection(!), then the iPad is an ideal portable portfolio for interactive panos, and well worth its steep price!
And there would be no need to Jailbreak it either!

Cheers!

I tried this high resolution with a complete tour and skin => after 3-4 panos Safari always crashes. 800px works fine though, probably a RAM problem.
