Question on 3D Distorted Hotspots

I've been following Hopki's video.

I noticed that the patch extractor allows for pan angles greater than 180 degrees but the hotspot list limits pan angles to less than 180 degrees.

What did I miss?

Hi,
Under the hotspot editors hotspot list the value is 0 to 180 then -179 back to 0.
If a patch has a pan angle of 339.5, then the calculation is 339.5 - 360 = -20.5.
So if the pan angel is between 0 and 180 use these values, but if the pan angle is past 180 then use the above.

I got it working. Close the shameless plug and mouse-over the cabinets, closet, etc...

Hi! I've used this post along with the tutorial to finally be able to create a pano with the desired effect that works just fine on desktop pc.

What would be an alternative to make this touch-screen-friendly? so that the pinned images can also be viewed in smart phones / tablets?

This post has helped me to finally get my pano working the way I wanted, having doors opening/closing and objects in the room respond to the mouse enter/leave actions just fine.

Is there a way to extend this functionality to touch screens (ipads/iphones, android tablets/phones)? I have an android phone, and the reveal actions work with long finger press, but that also triggers the "mouse right click" actions, which is annoying.

Was thinking of maybe creating a differnt skin for such devices with something in there that resembles the reveal action of the mouse hover state??

Not very well as there wis no "mouse over".
You can on touch open a door, then slide your finger off the hotspot will close the door without activating the hotspot, but viewers are not going to know this as will just click and change locations.
I did play with mouse double click to open next panorama which worked as I wanted, so mouse click to change the image and mouse double click to change nodes, but how many tours do you know that require a double tap to activate a hotspot.
So it becomes un-user friendly. I suppose you could have instructions that have to be double tapped to hide.

I'm trying to use this same "mouse over" technique to open/close (2) separate doors on (1) node BUT my 1st patch (door) is also showing up where my second patch (door) should be...

Am I missing something? Is it not possible to do this more than once in a node?

btw... I'm only using this technique to show the doors open and close (not to jump to other nodes).

Any quick help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Hi LMC,
You can have as many as you like, within reason :wink:
I looked at the error console and the only image being called was: image_1.png.
Is there any actions in the Hotspot Templates that may conflict with actions in the hotspot image?
If your still having problems can you post your skin and list your Hotspots data, Skin ID, Title, URL, Target etc.

Thanks for the reply. I seem to have more issues now: thinking it may have been a software issue (and burning the midnight oil), I deleted the beta software (and files). Then re-downloaded the most current (Pano2VR Pro). Now the "add position to filename" seems to have completely disappeared from the advanced preferences panel in Pano2VR Pro 5 beta 4?

If I made a mistake, it would have most likely been during the editing of the skin (I thought I did have an image 1 and 2 specified though). Can you point me to a tutorial (and/or a skin) that demonstrates what I'm trying to do?

I also got frustrated last night/this morning and deleted the file and tried to start over :-(

Here is a .zip containing the pano and the (2) patches if ANYONE could demonstrate how to do this for me, I'm pretty sure I could dissect it and figure it out.

Hi,
Im not sure which way you added the images as there were a few options but here is a p2vr file and skin that has the images in. Just add your cylinder and publish.
You are better off using the blending option and using jpg to reduce the file size.
The rectangles are the active areas that change the alpha of the larger images.
Of course you would set these with an Alpha value so you done see them.

I will got thru this and try and see where I made my mistake. The skin honestly looks exactly like my previous setup (except for the names you gave them). When I added the images, I hit the "add image" button in Skin Editor and select it from the browser. Should I be dragging in? I didn't know there was a difference...

Hi,
You can drag them in or use the add image button.
What I meant was you can use images or the external loaders and I was not sure which you used at the time however looking at your files you just added the image to the skin.
I would defiantly look at the blending with a JPG to reduce fuel size.
