The pano2vr media player audio streams use MP3 and .OGG file types.

A lot of folks have smartphones which use voice recording .AMR file type. The Adaptive Multi-Rate (AMR or AMR-NB) audio codec is a patented audio data compression scheme optimized for speech coding. AMR was adopted as the standard speech codec by 3GPP in October 1999.

What common software are forum members using to convert their smartphone .amr voice files to .mp3 and/or .ogg file suitable for use with Pano2vr media feature ?

I have been searching for couple of months - found lots of questionable converter software on the internet. Some sites let you upload to their server where they do the conversion..then you download the converted file. Other sites say their software is free for download.. but then place a brand audio overlay on top of your recorded content until you pay for their software.

Discussion ? Software suggestions ?

Thank you... I did download it. Our input file type is .amr and it does not seem to recognize it.

Out put shows .ogg and mp3 are on their list.

We will continue our search

Ah ok.. I did see a list of cellphones. I will try again. Thanks

EDIT - YES IT WORKED ! Audio is clean clear. I can listen to our whole recorded conversation. Also it was a fast conversion.

OK.. now need to find an editor to clean up the file. But that is another issue.

Thanks for your help... your suggestion helped us greatly.

excellent suggestion. Albeit it is a two step process .arm to mp3 with Hewbo Free... the clean up with Audacity ... and ready to go with Pano2vr Media.

Our thread conversation will certainly help other forum members increase their use of the Pano2vr Media with their panorama projects.

I personally thank you for your help and direction.

I look forward in helping you where I can with your Pano2vr panorama project development.

Good Job !

UPDATE 01July14 For Windows. Mac OS X and Linux/Unix are also available.

Ok, I figured out how to do the .amr to .mp3 with using only Audacity from Sourceforge.

Here is list of program files found on http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/
Windows version http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/windows
LAME download page http://lame.buanzo.org/

Audacity 2.0.5 with out neccesary separate downloads FfmpefforAudacity and Lame for Audacity.

Ffmpegforaudacity v06.2 (permits mouse drag and drop .amr directly into Audacity work area.)
Audacity v2.0.5 does all those enhanced features like cutting/removing audio sections, fading lead in and out ending audio sections. I need to learn more about its features.
Lame for Audacity v3.99.3 for windows (permits exporting your currently loaded .amr file to .MP3) Lame plugin is developed by others so you need go their page for download.

All this is needed to create voice recordings made with your smartphone for use in Pano2vr Media feature. Our Samsung Gs4 uses .amr file types

Yes, its all free. Need help.. just ask
