I got some great .swf animated hotspots working in some panos.
Is there a way of making them animate only when you exactly face them. A zone of sorts, so when they are to the left or right of view they don't animate. Just when dead on.?
Thanks.

Create two variants of SWF:1 for normal / 2 for active.
And use show/hide for mouse over/leave

thanks, that is what i have done, but i was hoping to achieve this without actually having to mouse over. rather when the hotspot is in a central area of the screen.

Ah... Now I understand what this mean...
To do this, create a custom Flash (swf), like Lens Flare plugin, which tracks the coordinates of the screen and in the central area is the highest activity.

But Thomas did not share the source of the plugin to be able to identify and understand the behavior based on that do what you want.
