Hi,

I've searched in the forum and on the bugtracker, but I could not find simular reports.
I just installed the 4.1.0 version and some things go wrong here.
First I noticed that in the html5 config, only the normal.ggt was selectable. All my costum .ggt files were gone.
A closer look in the HtmlTemplates directory showed a new directory tree insite the html5 directory were my costum files should be. There was a new html5 directory insite de html5 directory where the only normal.ggt was I could select in de config file. Had to recover my custom files from a backup.
Second problem was that after batch-generating a project, all the "generate html file" toggles in the html5 output where switched on (they were off). I normaly only generate a index.html in the opening config file.
Third and not yet examened problem was that my sound-files were not playing ....

Switched back to 4.0 to finish some project before the deadline.

I did not dear to upgrade again because it took me an hour to correct my paths to a working version again last time I tried.

Hi Arjan,
Can you provide more information regarding your system, OS etc.
Pano2VR should not overwrite folders, it will only create folder if one is missing.
Example if you rename the skin folder to old_skin the the next time Pano2VR opens it will generate a new skin folder. The same for the HTML Templates.

I'm using windows 8 Pro 64x

I just tried the upgrade on a test machine with the same OS and same thing happens there.
After installing all files and directories are ok. But starting pano2vr for the first time messes things up.

Here are some screen-dumps:

First my settings. I'm using dropbox to be able to access my skins and HTMLTemplates on multiple computers.

Original working directory structure looks like this:

http://www.skyfocus.nl/SkyFocus/tests/Knipsel3.JPG

After update and first start pano2vr it looks like this:

http://www.skyfocus.nl/SkyFocus/tests/Knipsel5.JPG

And inside the html5 dir within the html5 dir it looks like this:

http://www.skyfocus.nl/SkyFocus/tests/Knipsel4.JPG

Result is that when I want to select my customized .ggt files they are gone, the configured path is still
to the directory above with the customized files.

Strangest thing is that it completely rebuild the HTMLTemplates directory insite the html5 directory.

hope this helpd to find the problem. Strange that nobody ran into this ?????

I have been using Pano2VR for years.

I have modified normal.ggt and the template .html files. Each upgrade my customizations are lost. I have notes on where files are stored. Prior to the last upgrade I backed everything up.

It seems as if the installer deletes all the folders and does a fresh install. It has been so long since my last update that I do not remember exactly and really do not want to go through this yet again any time soon.

I have had to deal with this for years. That is why I hesitate to upgrade to the latest version if there is no compelling reason to do so.

XP x86 and x64, Windows 7 x86 and x64.

No surprise. It is a common practice in many software applications. For us users the safe practice is:

1. Copy customized files & templates somewhere outside the application folder, then customize them. That ensures our work is safe after future application upgrades.

Good install/uninstall routines do not delete user data. Even if you uninstall, your customized files should remain. That is common practice with the professional software I use.
