Gyro control is working quite good in general on my android devices (Samsung Galaxy S2, Android TF700T).
Anyhow the control on the horizontal axis is inverted. When i turn the device to the left the panorama moves to the right and the opposite.
Up and down is correct.

Test with iPhone is behaving normal. Any possibility to change the behaviour on Android phone?

Behaviour does seem to vary from device (being so many) and browser. Turning off screen auto rotation does seem to help with stability.

It depends on the used android browser if the gyro direction (left/right) is correct or not.
It seems that opera browser is the best on android devices.
Anyhow with all browsers (also with opera) the picture is vibrating with gyro control on android devices.
Gyro control only works really smooth on Apple devices. :-(

Any idea how to optimize the pano2vrgyro.js for android devices???

Its not Apple or Andriod and PC version that controls the functionality, IT IS THE devices web BROWSER Version that is most important. Might be better if when discussing functionality we limit our discussion to only Browser and its version .

OPERA announced few days ago it is moving to using WebKit.. but we do not know which version yet. Maybe after the trade show in Spain 25 Feb 2013.

Do you know which Apple and Android web browser Webkit software version you are talking about ?? Actually Apple Safari uses Webkit version xxx depending on which iOS the device is using.

For your iOS?? iDevice open your device web browsr and type in the URL address bar:

Code: Select all

javascript:alert(navigator.appVersion)
After we pushed the "Go " button our iPad 3 an info box displayed the following

5.0(iPad; CPU OS 6_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebkit/536.26 (KHTML like Gecko) Version 6.0 Mobile/10b141 Safari/8536.25
[ ... OK ....] button

So it appears that our iPad 3 is using Webkit 536.26

Our HTC Evo 4g uses Android 4.0.3 and its web browser is WebKit 534.30

Here is a list of Safari versions and associated AppleWebkit versions

@ 360Texas
Thanks for this very usful information.
I have checked the webkit versions on my Samsung Galaxy S2 (4.1.2).

Chrome 18.0.1025469 @ android
WebKit 535.19

Firefox 19.0 @ android
only 5.0 (Android) is displayed

Firefox 19.0 Beta 19.02.2013 @ android
only 5.0 (Android) is displayed

Opera Mobile 12.10 @ android
only 9.80 (ADR-1301080958) is displayed

Android Default Browser (no version information found) ==> Currently the best browser for Gyro control on my device
WebKit 534.30

On my device Chrome is using the newest WebKit version, anyhow still below the lastest available version.
Unfortunately the panorama is not working well on Chrome ... some cube areas are not shows (black).

Any idea how to get the latest WebKit version on android?
e.g. Special Browser, Beta Version, manual update ???

Thx
Christian

Opera Beta for Android released which is based now on webkit.
Today the webkit version 537.22 is used.

HTML5 panorama with gyro control works quite good.
Anyhow the screen is always flipping a little bit when smartphone is not moved.
Any idea how to optimize this. Eg. with pano2vrgyro.js ???

Hi folks.
I have this problem too...
On my Samsung Galaxy S6 the only browser which works fine is Firefox.
All the others (Android standard browser, Chrome, Opera) do not: horizontal gyro rotation is inverted!
Which solution could you suggest, guys, without forcing the user to use a particular browser (Firefox)?
Thank you.
