Hi everyone, I'm a newbie to the Pano2VR software but I've been taking GigaPan photos for a while now. I have an archaeological project in Peru and I recently took a GigaPan (4.03 GB) of an excavation profile. I would like to use that panoramic shot (it's currently saved as a TIFF file) to make a VR experience where a user can zoom in to specific features and learn more about the excavated finds.
However, the Pano2VR tool will not even recognize/open my TIFF file. Neither can I open the TIFF file (4.03 GB) in Photoshop (I'm using CS2 and a Windows Vista PC). Is it too big? I've heard about this Thomas BigTiff plug-in to save the file as a BigTIFF, but I can't find where to download the file.
Can anyone please help? Thanks.

You may want to use a 64-Bit version of Photoshop and convert it to a JPG. Chances are, preserving the quality as a TIFF will not be equal to opening it in Photoshop, color balancing and tweaking, then saving it with a bit of noise reduction and sharpening. I open my stitched JPGs in Adobe Camera RAW the version with CS6 is amazing.
If upgrading Photoshop is too pricey -- you might consider the Adobe Creative Cloud. As you are involved in an archaeological project, I am going to assume that you may be a teacher/student... or hopefully have a .edu e-mail address.
If so, you can legally lease all of Adobe's products for $30/mo:

Hope this helps. Otherwise - I'm sure that someone here might be willing to take your TIFF file and convert it to a big JPeG for you.
The BigTiff Plugin solution might work - but I'm not aware of what it is.
