convert and transformation change dpi

Hai all,
I want to know, why does the dpi change after convert the pic from equi to cube?? and the same from cube to equi??
It's the same when i did "transformation" to angular map(little planet), the dpi set to 72 in photoshop... Is it correct that i need 300dpi for printing??? How can i set the setting?? Because in the settings menu, there isn't that setupp...
Hope somebady can help me with info...

DPI does not change the quality of the image, a 2000px image will have the same 2000px if 72 DPI or 300 DPI.
Think of it like a way to resize the picture, 2000px image at 72 DPI will be a larger then 2000px at 300 DPI.
But resize them both to fit say an A4 sheet of paper and they will be both be the say quality, as both will be 2000px and the DPI will now be the same to fit the same size A4 sheet.

This keeps coming up time and time again, and yes can be confusing, but DPI really does not matter, px does.
