Hi !

Just wondered if anyone knows of a way to display a 360 degree equirectangular panorama as a non distorted panning image movie in Apple Final Cut Pro 7 ?

What format would i need to save as to make a .mov file auto rotate in a video ?

Anyone super smart enough to know the answer ?

Hi
I used Pano2VR to output 37 frames using transformations, named 0 to 36, I then opened Quick Time 7 Pro, click, File, Open Image Sequence, select the first frame, saved as .mov at 2 fps
As this was a test from your jpg, quality was very low, and i would have used more frames to show a customer, I used 10 degree steps.
I can not post because of the file size, but .mov looks cool on iPad.

If Final Cut can use images then just do as I did and use Pano2VR, Transformations, does not take long to output, just remember to change the file name

Ahhh ... Hopki to the rescue :D Thanks again for your input ...

How do i output frames using transformations ? I had a look myself but it didn't seem obvious.

Also, and perhaps more importantly, when outputting images this way, do they have normal perspective (like in a video tripod pan) or do they look like the equirectangular stills image is just being panned across linear from left to right ? I can easily add a jpg to Final Cut, but it's the equirectangular distortion that looks wrong and i need a stills image or .mov file that gives the right perspective.

Hope you can understand what i mean as it's tricky to explain !

Hi
OK, I droped your panorama image in the input section of Pano2VR.
Chose Transformations as the Output.
Set Rectilinear (default view) as Type
Set the image size, try and match the input image, so divide by four.
Untick Use default view.
Set your FoV
Then your output image format, tiff is good, if not jpg.
Then back to the pan, save the first image so 0.0 save as 01.jpg.
Then set the Pan to say 10, then save as 02.jpg.
I know its boring, but keep going until you do the complete 360, you will end up with 36 images. However doing steps of 5 will give a smoother rotation.

As long as you keep the sequence, you could do a rotation at Tilt 0, then once finished the rotation at Tilt 0, output images at Pan 0, but Tilt -10 then -20, then do another rotation at Tilt -20.
Then to finish off do two more Tilt's to return to Tilt 0.

This image sequence should give you a rotation then tilt down then another rotation then tilt back up ready for the next time play is pressed.
This all seems long winded but, you will have it done in less then 15 minutes.

Of course all you are doing is outputting separate frames, and as the Transformation can output different FoV and Roll you can make assorts of video sequences, and don't forget, it can also output Sphere's and Mirror Balls, they make for good image sequences too.

Hi,
I use Pano2Movie to create a video file of my 360° mov file.
Maybe it's just what you need ;-)
