Hi everyone !
I specialise in high quality 360 degree Adobe Flash 9 / 10 virtual tours generated using Garden Gnome Pano2VR.
It concerns me that Apple has refused to support any versions of Adobe Flash player with their new iPad / iPhones - this will become a big problem for us as the iPad technology catches on (which it will).
Does anyone know if the new iPad will support Quicktime generated Pano2VR (or Pano2QTVR) virtual tours or will there be a Flash conversion alternative ?
What are your thoughts and solutions ?
Thanks ...

As far as I can tell QTVR is not supported on the iPhone/iPad but I hope to have a solution for this platforms before the end of this year.

That's excellent news Thomas. I knew you wouldn't let us down...
Pano2VR continues to be the best virtual tour software on the market.

Are you able to tell us whether any 'app' or 'plug in' will HAVE to be downloaded by the iPad/Phone user before GGS Flash 360's can be viewed ?
How will your proposed solution work ?
It's such a pain that Apple refuse to support Flash as it's fundamental to our line of work.
All info would be greatly appreciated (and kept a secret obviously!)
Thanks Thomas

Thanks for that eldariel.
I've actually seen PangeaVR before. It's a great application that uses a spherical jpg to create a virtual tour. According to Brian at Pangea, it's just a few lines of code and they are working on support for the iPad too.
However, this means an app (plug in) effectively needs to be downloaded to view any panos. iPad users downloading player 'App's', feels like taking a step back and reduces immediate functionality of our virtual tours.
Not sure what solution Thomas at Garden Gnome Software is hoping to come up with, but I'm hoping it will be embedded into Pano2VR vt generated files somehow. Ideally I'd like the Pano2VR virtual tour html template code to see if Flash is supported on viewer's browser and if not, just download the spherical jpg file and display it using PangeaVR type viewer. Also needs to support sound if possible Thomas !!! I'd rather pay for this added functionality at Pano2VR software end than leave this for iPad viewer to have to download the player 'App'. I like my virtual tours to be fully functional with the least amount of viewer hassle.
Any clues Thomas ?! Pangea sell software licences to developers !!! Would be really helpful to know more ...

My current plan is to use HTML5 but I am not sure if I can do all the things I plan to do with it. Of course it would be the best solution but I am concerned about speed.rodedwards wrote: Any clues Thomas ?! Pangea sell software licences to developers !!! Would be really helpful to know more ...
If this doesn't work out too well I plan to make an iPhone/iPad App but I hope I don't have to.
