I see in Photoshop that the original TIFF equirectangular file has more detail than the final Flash Panorama. Could someone clarify, in simple terms, tile settings and Display settings to get the most out the TIFF while keeping the Flash file size managable?

eg. Cube Face Size : What is the difference between using the Optimal and indicated size?
Image Quality : why not just keep it at 100?

In display, What does Render Quality do? And what is the difference between Render Quality and Image Quality? And does Frame Rate have any affect?

Thanks - but please don't lose me in science.

For better image quality, increase the cube face size and quality. I find 1000-1200 cubface works well if your going to allow full screen playing, quality is good at 70 plus depending on image content. It's a play off between quality and files size though. You just need to make a balance. Aiming for 1-2mb for a pano doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

I've seen a few people on here state that using importing cube faces directly into Pano2VR will produce a fine panorama. But some say it's not necessary - that it depends on the type of interpolation filter. You can be the judge. Here some older topics discussing this:

It depends on multiple settings.

As discussed/mentioned earlier, interpolation filter plays a huge role in BOTH Pano2VR and the interpolation being used when making your output panoramic .TIFF file. Likewise, after having edited your .TIFF, various other enhancements affect detail, such as the "clarity" settings and "sharpness" settings within Lightroom. Finally, the output setting in Lightroom can further increase sharpness and clarity even after having one all these setting (by using the "sharpen for" setting upon export).

You have to then find a balance in both quality and tilesize when using this outputted image in Pano2VR. I generally go with 80 quality (as anything above is gives little to no known or average improvement that a regular person can tell) and i increase the tilesize according to what the intended screen size resolution should be...

Hope this helps...
