Flash cube face size...

I am creating a panorama for a high-resolution projector. The screen size is at 1920x1080 and I have an equirectangular image at 12960x6480, default fov at 30. In the flash settings, the optimal cube face size says 4,030 px, but the spinner will only let me set it to a max of 2880. Quicktime will allow higher cube face sizes, but I would prefer to stick with flash. Is there a workaround for this?

Cube face sizes for spherical images [2 to 1 ratio] are calculate = image width / 3.1415

In the FILE | Settings we remap using width/pi as conversion factor

12960/ 3.1415 = cube face side 4,125 I think that exceeds the limit
12960/ 4 = 3240

When creating a QTVR Mov or Flash .swf you can specify the viewer dimension to 1920 x 1200 [like 1080p 16:9 ratio]

I just tried the 1920 x 1200 dimensioned flash .swf viewer. With the tool bar below... it falls off the bottom of my 1920 x 1200 monitor.

Suggest trying 1800 x 1000 for big pano display without it falling off the edges.

FOV (Field of View) = 50 degrees is what the human eye sees normally.

I don't think you understand my question. Why is there a 2880 cube face size limit? I am displaying this pano full screen on a 16:9 ratio monitor without it falling off the edge. My client wants the FOV set at 30 degrees. I would like the cube face size to be larger so I can show more detail. Is there any way to increase the cube face size limit beyond 2880?

See if you can find Pano2VR v2.0 beta3 somewhere, and use that instead of the newer versions.
Of course you will lose all features that were added to Pano2VR since then.

If I remember correctly, Adobe introduced the 2,880x2,880 pixel limit in one of the early Flash 9 versions, and Thomas changed his program accordingly. However I have never noticed (or heard of) any problems with Flash9 VR's that I made using larger image sizes. The one I made from a 25,276 x 2,575 Cylindrical in 2007 using Pano2VR v2.0 beta3 has been on my website for all that time without anyone complaining it didn't work.
I really don't know if today there still are technical reasons to stick to those limits, but if there aren't any I do hope Thomas will consider removing them.

By the way, cubefaces measuring 2,880x2,880 pixels really should be large enough for your application.
But if you want the best possible image quality for your VR's (detail, sharpness), you'll have to be prepared to do a little extra work.

The method I use is as follows:
1. Let Pano2VR (or Pano2QTVR) make the largest possible cubefaces in a seperate step.
4,030x4,030 pixels would be fine.
Make sure you select an interpolator that doesn't significantly sharpen, like cubic.
2. Use Photoshop (or a similar quality editor) to scale those big cubefaces down to (in this case) 2,880x2,880.
3. Still in Photoshop, carefully sharpen them. Don't overdo it!
4. Load the new cubefaces in Pano2VR and let it make a Flash VR from them.

If done properly I think you'll notice quite an improvement.

If you are using Bridge CS4 you can open ALL .jpg or .tif cube faces in Adobe Camera RAW converter - SELECT ALL cube faces and apply the same amount of sharpening at the same time. That way one cube face is not adjusted more than the other face sides.

When you save the adjusted cube faces they will have new file names. New file names might be an issue when using pano2VR to reassemble back into the panorama. If you are not planning to reassemble.. then not an issue.
