Hi all,

I'm experiencing problems with a noticable seam appearing in qtvrs & flash panoramas exported from pano2vr. When I've made a qtvr from pano2qtvr using the same source image there is no visible seam.

Here are links to the files which illustrate the issue.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Nick

Thats a bit strange.
I could not see the line on the .mov provided even when fully zoomed in on that area. I can see it on your swf version.
Can you supply the project file and pano (or at least a reduced resolution version that DOES show the problem when you make the .mov with it).
Do you get this problem on all panos made in pano2vr or just this one?

Hi Nick,

I have had the same problem.
Take the final panorama, TIFF, to Photoshop and flatten the image. Then make the panorama again and the problem is solved! (layer - flatten image)

Hi there,

Thanks for the help BUT

- Andy, this problem occurs with MANY swf's and mov's created with pano2vr. With pano2qtvr, when using the same source image, there is no problem. The problem is that I bought a licence for pano2vr and the free version pano2qvtr doesn't allow me to export flash. Therefore, I've been using pano2qtvr to export mov's when a seam appears in those exported from pano2vr.

- Ron and Stu, the tiff has already been flattened.

Any further suggestions? I'm using pano2vr 2.2.3 on vista. Tiffs are between 5000x2500 and 6000x3000 in size and no seams are visible at 100% in photoshop. I've checked them using the offset filter.

Cheers in advance,

Nick

Have tried running an offset filtre of 3000.

The seam has disappeared from the place where it was but reappeared on the opposite side of the panorama.

here's the seam before offsetting

http://www.visual360.co.uk/seam/pano2VR.swf

here it is after offsetting by 3000 (seam on the opposite side of the VR)

http://www.visual360.co.uk/seam/mp3_full.swf

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Nick

PS I know I've played with colours a little bit between the above VR's but the last thing I did was to offset so I don't think my editing the cause of the aforementioned change.

I looked at both panoramas. FIRST: You certainly picked a VERY high location !!! GREAT VIEW. I have secretly wanted to go there and take a panorama there.

After looking at both I can not see a vertical line in either one.

Yes, in Photoshop you probably could not see the 1 pixel gap until you FILTER | Other | Offset rotate the image around 50%. If you see the 1 pixel gap you might find it was caused by inadvertantly resizing horizontally the pano to 3999 pixels wide x 2000 high. Then when the 2:1 viewer displayed it showed a 1 pixel line at the seam. Resizing was done in Photoshop when forgetting to [x] mark to "maintain the image ratio". Force the panorama to 4000 x 2000 high might close the 1 pixel gap.

Thanks for your help,

For me the seams are quite clear. I've highlighted them in the following screen shots

http://www.visual360.co.uk/seam/seam1.jpg
http://www.visual360.co.uk/seam/seam2.jpg

I've checked the image size and it's definitely 6000x3000. The other thing I don't follow is why the seam moves when you offset the image. Also, when using the same source image with pano2qtvr the seam does not appear.

Cheers in advance,

Nick

I see you are using Pano2VR 2.2.3. A Black line issue was fixed in 2007.

Maybe Thomas might help us at this point.

Hmm that looks like only a 1/2 pixel ? not very noticable until it is pointed out for me. Thanks

That might be caused by 'remapping'.

Pano2VR I think offers 2 choices.

Find:
FILE | Settings | Remapping [x] use width /Pi as conversion factor. 6000 / 3.1415 = 1909.91564539
FILE | Settings | Remapping [ ] it might remap as 6000 / 4 = 1500.00000000

Not sure but I think Pano2QTVR only used 6000/ 4 = 1500
