Hi all,

The number of variables being used grows with every new project. I just make more use of them, making it more and more neccessary to get a clearer overview by grouping them. Especialy when I am about to create actions using variables, the variable picker spans a significant part of the screen. Would that be possible, or on the roadmap any time soon? Photoshop has a kind of folder structure to order layers into groups, that would be handy.

Kind regards,

Hi Dennis,
This request has been noted.

However, what's wrong with using a naming convention to keep groups together?
As an example exposed variables could have the prefix, opt_.
Variables for popups could have the prefix, htv_info, htv_image, and so on.
What this will do is when you look at the variable list you will be able to quickly scroll to the group of variables you need to look at.

Hi Hopki,

Nice tip to visually group variables by name, haven't thought about that. It would be a workaround though, as the inability of collapsing parts of the variable list kind of holds me from creating a certain kind of functionality. I want to keep track of which infobuttons have been clicked (usually many), so that a counter counts down to zero. An attempt to get visitors motivated to click as many as possible. I already do that for the number of spots visited, but that's much easier, as there are less of them.

By mentioning that the request is noted, does that mean that would be within a reasonable time, or would you advice to first use the workaround?

Cheers!

Hi Dennis,
When a feature is requested, a feature request is written, as you can imagine we get lots, some are just not possible while others may be put back to a later build, but the important thing is it is written up so it can not get forgotten.
So it means a request has been written up.
