How to implement a watermark across Pano viewing area?

I'm trying to add a semi-transparent watermark across the entire viewing area of my Pano and what it's taught me is that even if you place an image in a skin (like a logo in, say, one of the corners), when you place your mouse over that logo/image, you cannot then manipulate/rotate the view whilst mouse cursor is over that logo area.....

So, it you then try an entire watermark across the entire viewing area (like I just have), you'll lose completely your ability to manipulate the view entirely and the view will be simply stuck at its first default position. You also won't be able to click on any hotspot either because your entire logo/watermark image is covering the Pano underneath it (a bit like a photoshop layer).

Is there a way to 'disable' or circumvent this issue ?

I'd really like to plaster a particular VR that I have with watermarking across the entire viewing area (as though there was a very large, transparent image with repeated logos), whilst still allowing viewers to completely interact with my VR scene / hotspots etc?

Hope that all makes sense.

Many thanks.

Hi,

Most elements you add to the skin have the Properties > Advanced > Permeable: unchecked. Containers are an exception to the rule as they usually contain something you want access to.

Make sure your Watermark element has Properties > Advanced > Permeable: checked this way it acts as an overlay but the mouse actions pass through it.

Hi JezUK,
Adding a skin element to act as a watermark is probably not the best idea on the understanding that you can use a browsers console to open without using overlays which is what the skin is.

You would probably be better off adding patches, the output would then have these hard written into the tiles.
When the time comes to remove them, just delete the patches and generate a new output.
You can even copy the p2vr file so you have a version with and one without the patches/watermarks.

Thanks Tony.

That worked a treat and does all I need it to do.

@Hopki, thanks too Hopki, but i think I'm okay with going with Tony's suggestion. This is just a temporary issue which my audience wouldn't know how to disable / remove such overlays anyway. (Furthermore, I don't know what Patches are!). Many thanks.

Hi Jez,
 ok, yes Tony's idea is the simplest route.
But for FYI, see this page: https://ggnome.com/doc/patches/
Used for removing the tripod or correcting the image.
The patch editor adds the patch to the panorama so is part of the image and not just a layer.
The patch image can be added non-distructivly.

Hi,

I guess it comes down to the watermark itself.

In my mind, I had the image of a large or scattered watermark across the whole screen, which prompted the suggestion of the overlay.

As Martin pointed out that can be removed and a more permanent option is the patch with the limitation being the actual patch size.

Thanks guys, but it sounds to me that the patch would also rotate with the pano as you look around.

Tony's method worked best for me because I want the watermarks to cover the entire view AND remain static throughout.
