Hi,

it seems no matter what i do, i can't change the thumbnail that shows on the android app. The first unpack of a project, it's fine, but after updating the ggpkg and unpack again, i still get the old thumbnail, even when for instance i set another tour node as "first". seems that image gets stuck in a cache and not deleted when a project is deleted from the app?

hope it can be checked.
dvid

// after double check, i renamed the ggpkg, and then it's ok after unpacking, so indeed it seems the thumbnail image that doesn't get overwritten when you simply update a ggpkg.

Hi dvid,
When making an update do you just overwrite the existing package or do you delete it first?
Pleas try removing the package first, or indeed rename the old one so Pano2VR is forced to build a new package and not just updating an exhausting package.

i'm deleting first, then i upload and open the updated one. everything seems to update as expected, except the thumbnail.

Hi david,
To check my understanding you are deleting the package from your computer and the Package Viewer app first. Then using Pano2VR you set a new default view for your new preview image.
Then create a new package, and then upload to the Package Viewer app.

Hi David,

I'm writing up a Windows 10/Android version of my 'Package Viewer - Custom Preview' tutorial https://tonyredhead.com/pano2vr/custompreview and it should be online later today or tomorrow.

If you have WinZip installed on your computer you can open the .ggpkg package with it and see the current thumbnail. If the thumbnail has changed it will let us know that the issue is somewhere else.

cheers,

Tony

hi,

i'm overwriting the package on my computer, windows package viewer shows updated thumbnail 9also with the suggested zip file check, i see the correct one). then i delete, throug the app, the old version on my android tablet. then i overwrite the ggpkg on the android tablet and add it again to the app. then i still see the old thumbnail, unless i changed the file name of the ggpkg.
so it really seems like the old thumbnail image is not deleted and not overwritten with the new one by the android app.

Hi david,
Using a Google Pixel 3:

1) made a five node tour package, the skin only has a node image element that shows the node image of node one which shows the default view
2) uploaded to a server, then using the Pixel 3, selected Chrome to download and then shared with the Package Viewer app as seen in our video

Made note of the preview image and node image in the output.
Removed the package from the app.

3) opened Pano2VR and changed the default view for node one and create a new package overwriting the one on my computer
4) opened the package using the Desktop Package Viewer and to confirm the new default view looking at the node image in the skin
5) uploaded to the server, overwriting the package on the server
6) again on the Pixel 3, using chrome to download the package, then share it to the Package Viewer, I see the new thumbnail/default view in the app

Chrome does not seem to overwrite packages.
When I downloaded the package with the same file name a second time, in Chromes download folder I now see two files with the same name.
Depending on which one I share to the package viewer app depends on which default view I get.
What is strange is the package did not get overwritten, instead I now have two packages with identical names in Chromes download folder.

Hi,

I'm putting it on my tablet through USB cable, apart from that it's the same procedure.

i i delete the old project through the android app, then overwrite the old ggpkg with the new one (which has a different thumbnail image).

add the new one to the app, then everything inside the project is updated, except the thumbnail that shows in the android app.

it's not a very big problem of course, it's just a single thumbnail. but still nicer if it's updated as well ;)

having said that, as only wish, if it would be possible to re-arrange the thumbnails (drag and drop) in the app, it would be perfect.
