To display 360 panoramas locally stored on your Android device you can do the following:

You will need to be able to transfer files to your Android device, for the Mac you will need the AndroidFileTransfer app.
For the PC you do not need any software and should install it as a USB device.

You will need to set your device to, File Transfer / AndroidAuto, so the files on the Android device can be seen.
Then copy over your projects output folder. You can rename the output folder but not any of the files inside.

Go to the Play Store and install a file manager, I used Fiel Manager Plus

Use the file manager to open the folder and index.html page.
Open with Chrome or Firefox.

This worked on my test Android device running Android 11.

If you can not see the output it may be down to phone settings/local file security.
Try going to the Play Store and installing Firefox Nightly.

Then do the following:
Type in:

Code: Select all

about:config
Then Search for:

Code: Select all

privacy.file_unique_origin
Toggle to false.

This will allow local file access.
Now use the File manager to open the index.html file with Firefox Nightly.

Any feedback would be good.

Thanks, Hopki, with Windows you can specify with which program a file should be opened. How can I get Android to offer me Firefox Nighty browser for opening the html file, but not the text display?

Hi Harald,
To be clear this is for an Android device.
When using the file manager and you select to open the HTML page it will ask you which browser and if to only use once etc.
Of at least this is what happens with my old Galaxy S7 and Pixel 3.

Hi Hopki,

Windows was an example how to choose which program can be used for opening a file.

As I said before:

all I can choose in Android File Manager is:

Open with:

Druckdienste-Plug-In von Samsung
Text-Editor
HTML-Anzeige
Docs
ColorNote
Totalcmd-Editor

Hi Harald,
All I can suggest is installing the file manager I used when testing.
And of course, make sure you also have Firefox Nightly installed.
I can only report on what I have tested and what apps I have tested with.
The Galaxy S7 is very old now and the Pixel 3 is also not that new, but the key part of this is they are running a different OS,
S7 Android 8
Pixel 3 Android 11
But both work with what I described above.

One thing I have seen is when you open an HTML page and it asks if just once or all the time if you do not select just once it will not ask again and will always open with that browser.
You will need to go in and edit the default, I have not done this, as I was just testing I just deleted the apps and reinstalled them.

I'm trying this on an android tablet.
also don't see the option to open index.html with FF nightly after i installed it, so i opened in normal firefox, which is showing skin elements, but not the actual panorama. then copied the link from the firefox address bar to firefox nightly which is.. not showing anything. gives an error on "unsecure connection" which normal firefox doesnt. the files are stored on internal memory.
