GIF as an external image

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if it was possible to use a GIF as an external image. I have done some digging but have not found a yes or no answer anywhere yet so I thought I'd ask here.

Basically, I have had a button that you press and a PNG comes up, this has been no problem , but is it possible for the PNG to instead be a GIF? What I have found so far is that the answer is no as when I click on the button, I can tell the external image becomes visible, but no media is loading.

If this is not possible, is it possible to have a similar effect with an animated SVG?

The only solution that I can think of is to use an embedded mp4 to get the result I am wanting, but if there are any better solutions out there please let me know.

Thanks,
Spencer

Hi Spencer,
You need to display animated GIF and PNGs using the external image loader, they will not animate if placed directly in the skin.

Hey Hopki,

Thanks for letting me know it was possible, turns out I just hadn't set the folder as an asset which is why nothing was showing up.

So whoops...

Thanks,
Spencer
