I have created a custom skin but clicking on the configuration button doesn't work. I need to set the URL mode to open as iFrame. Do I need to create a configuration file first?

I've realised the best thing to do is to use an existing skin as a template and just edit it. The Skin configuration is built by adding components.

Do you mean how to create a custom skin? If so, a skin is composed of elements and those elements can be grouped together to create components that can be saved and shared.

The Edit Skin Configuration button is used for changing a skin's properties so you don't have to edit the actual skin. If you are using one of the built-in skins, it has a lot of things you can change because they were built on the notion that the skins themselves shouldn't be edited, but rather configured to your liking.
