I thought that the position user data variable "Current pan angle with north $(an)" means "azimuth"...BUT if so, the script formula displays just the opposite. North is 0° and East is 90° but with $(an) it displays -90° for East and 90° for the West. the variable $(ap) is with the same result.
Example (from my 22 km trekking in 2010): at the mid/bottom of the surround photography are the info about the elevation and the azimuth (at least I want), but the "azimuth" is wrong: http://www.burger.si/PoZasavsko/360_Lit ... z/vrp.html

Ok. let's simplify the question: What does "Current pan angle with north $(an)" display?

Even when we are out of geography (azimuth), the pan (+) or (-) is the same way: http://www.conitec.net/beta/aentity-pan.htm
A script bug?
