floor plan image size limitation?

Hi guys,

I'm trying to add a floor plan to my tour, quite a big floor plan as it is a tourism map (1000x765 pixels) which needs details.
However, the floor plan image either don't display at the right size (much smaller) when unchecking "simple floor plan" in skin editor, or doesn't display at all when checking this option. In this latter case, it is just like if pano2vr couldn't find the floor plan image file, although showing the placeholder apparently at the right set dimension. In both cases, the hotspots show up fine though.

Is there any kind of image size limitations for floorplans, which would prevent displaying large images for that? or maybe a simple setting somewhere to change this behavior ? I looked everywhere though...

Please let me know if I'm unclear...

Hi,

I had a bit of a play around with the map issues.

In regard to the map not showing up when you check 'simple floor plan' I found that once the map placeholder exceeds the original size of the map image it no longer displays it. When you scale the browser window down it displays the map. See the two browser grabs below.

Sounds like a bit of a bug.

You can check it out working here https://s3-ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com ... index.html

Hi Tony, as always thanks for your reply, quite amazed that you went to download the tourist map yourself to get a copy for your tests. Either that or you are secretely connected to my computer, so I'd think more option one!

I tried reducing the skin placeholder for my 1000x765 image - this placeholder map was exactly of that size. With a bit of dichotomy, I was able to find that my map only displays when the height of the placeholder is not higher than 500px, making the placeholder 654x500 to keep proportions.

So it does seem like a bug/limitation as you say.

However, looking at your tests (many thanks for taking the time...), it looks like your 2nd test (https://s3-ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com ... index.html) has the map much bigger than the max I could get... could you tell me what was the size of your map image and the one from your skin placeholder for that map?

Thanks again

Hi guys,

I'm really lacking precision in my "floorplan" tourist maps, by having to reduce them to 500px height. I would really need to display much bigger tourist maps in order to make them useful.
The NOT "simpleFloorPlan" option doesn't seem to work better, as it seems to be also affected by the size of the map..

Could anyone from GGNOME confirm whether it's a bug or not, and if it is then if it could be adressed in the next beta?

Thanks

BTW @Tony, by any chance would you have saved the skin you used in your https://s3-ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com ... index.html, as well as the pano2vr file ?

I'd be keen getting them to see if you did manage to display a bigger map image...

tx in advance

Hi,

Quick question. Are you using radar on the map or is it just pins that show locations and link to the panoramas? Also if you click on a pin does the map close or is it still open over the new node?

Sure, find attached zip with skin and project.

Thanks Tony.

I do use radar over the pins. Also, the map doesn't close but just hides on the left side when a pin is clicked. But unsure how this could have an effect..

I downloaded your ziped project (added some fake pano and my 1000x765 JPG map), but the funny thing is that it doesn't work for me. In your skin, the map dimensions are 80% (width & height).Whatever I do, it only works for me if I replace the height by 500px max... really unsure why/how it works with these settings on your side.
Could you possibly try with a JPG map of the same size (1000x765) and check it it works for you keeping your initial skin settings for the map size?

Hi,

In my project Map_Test_2 the image size of the map is 1500 x 1145 I tried it as you suggested at 1000 x 765 and I'm seeing the same thing as you are.

When I use the 1500 x 1145 image I end up with two images/maptiles Floorplan01_1.png and Floorplan01_2.png.

domains4.jpg
domains4.jpg (542.15 KiB) Viewed 4376 times

As you can see they have the respective sizes 750 x 572 and 1500 x 1145

However if I use the smaller image 1000 x 765 it just creates one maptile at 1000 x 765

I've tried a version where I scaled up the image to 2500px you can see the result here...

https://s3-ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com ... index.html

I've included a zip file with the assets, project and skin you can download it here...

https://s3-ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com ... assets.zip

cheers,

Tony

Thanks for your help and taking the time to upload your test project Tony. It does work with a bigger image, so that's all good now :D :D

Hi Guys.
Glad I found this thread. I seem to be having the same problem. With a simple map and PNG image 872x668, I dont see the image displayed if the map height is greater than 500px. Seems better behaved if I use "not simple map". I have a click action on the map element to scale by 50%, but normal size is 100%. Using Radar and other default options.
