Thumbnail preview when sending text or posting to Facebook

Post by Enviropix » Fri Dec 21, 2018 9:38 pm

Hello GN Team,

I have a request... as a former Panotour Pro user, after I uploaded my tours and when I would share them via text on my iPhone or on Facebook, the initial panorama would be displayed as a thumbnail, but this feature is not available when I send your links.

Here are some examples of what I mean with a screen grab from my iPhone X. The top link with the thumbnail is from this link: enviropix.com/tours/undertow/2018.html and was made with Panotour Pro

And the bottom was 360niche.com/tours/undertow/voyage3/vtour.html and was created in Pano2VR

So is this something you guys can duplicate in the future?

Thanks!

Jeff

Happy New Year!

So is there a "key" of sorts to learn the programing behind the template?

Such as from my screenshot example here: where it says $(upt) I mean what does "upt" stand for and why use a $ sign? Forgive me if this has already been discussed, but I'd like to be the Master of my Tour Templates :D

Thanks!

Jeff

For a list of placeholders for Pano2vr you only need to look in Pano2vr 6.0 for "Placeholders" in the extensive documentaion:

How to use:
https://ggnome.com/doc/pano2vr/6/using-placeholders/

List:
https://ggnome.com/doc/pano2vr/6/placeh ... kin-editor

Hope this helps

Hi Jeff,

Happy New Year to you too.
So is there a "key" of sorts to learn the programing behind the template?
You can find information about the html templates here https://ggnome.com/doc/pano2vr/5/html-template/
where it says $(upt) I mean what does "upt" stand for and why use a $ sign?
Hopki can probably give you a better explanation but as far as I know the $ sign, in a placeholder, makes them more flexible and allows them to be used elsewhere in a skin, for example in a variable.

A list of placeholders can be found at https://ggnome.com/doc/pano2vr/6/placeholders-list/ however there doesn't seem to be a reference for $(upt) but it takes the Title entered in the User Data fields and uses it for the Title of the html page.

cheers,

Tony

Thanks everyone for helping with that simple yet challenging aspect of my tour building knowledge. What had been escaping me was how to add a thumbnail image when sharing the tour and of course the title. And what I figured out with all of your help was to use the "Master Node" for the addition of the Title and the edit html settings page for the thumbnail.

Best,

Jeff

Hi Jeff,
Happy new year to you.
You can actually just overtype the placeholder with the title of the page.
Also under the HTML tab you will see a page size, this sets the size of the thumbnail image.
As an example Facebook likes 1,200 x 630 pixels.
Regards,
Hopki
