Pano2VR 6 Gyroscope control feature

I must be missing something, or going crazy... not sure. In Pano2VR 5 Pro the option for activating gyroscope control for tours was found in the HTML template editor. It was a super simple checkbox - easy peazy.

I upgraded to Pano2VR 6 Beta 3 the other day, and the Gyroscope control on/off checkbox isn't in the editor anymore. Does anyone know where it may have gone??

... I'm assuming it's staring me right in the face. Kinda feeling like a bit of a dunce for not being able to find it :?

Hi,

Unfortunately you won't find it anymore as it's now built into the player and not part of the Pano2VR UI.

In Version 6 Gyro has been integrated into the actual player. So now you control it by Actions.

If you have a Gyro button, select it and in Actions select Mouse Click => Player Settings => Gyro => Enable Gyro/Disable Gyro/Toggle Gyro

To have it start up automatically just use the loader or a container/element and use Start => Player Settings => Gyro => Enable Gyro

cheers,

Tony

Thanks so much Tony. I was baffled by the change to say the least. Your post is a lifesaver!

I look forward to when the documentation is updated to reflect all added/adjusted features.

Plus one on the issue with the gyro not working on apple devices/WEB VR after iOS update. This is a major for us and no easy fix at this stage as most users will not go through the steps of changing settings on their iPhones and being able to be in situ and move your phone with pop ups was the reason we're building panoramas in Pano2VR
:(

Hi Niki,

Gyro is disabled by default on iOS. One of Safari’s last updates prevents motion and orientation access unless the feature is MANUALLY enabled (you only need to do this once, though).

The feature can be found on your iPhone or iPad, in Settings > Safari > Privacy & Security > Motion & Orientation Access, and it’s disabled by default. That means that whenever a user visits a website that normally uses the device’s gyroscope or accelerometer to display interactive web pages, they will be presented with a static image instead.

Note: you cannot do this automatically the owner of the phone has to. So we need to provide a splash screen on mobile telling them how to set it.

Hey Tony,
Thanks so much for filling me in and for providing detailed instructions, i am a little embarrassed that i did not find the setting myself, i did search settings yesterday for "gyro" but did not think to search for "Motion" or "orientation"

Generally speaking, i do agree with the new security and privacy trip Apple seems to be on lately, but the gyro? Do you think it presents any security or privacy concerns?

Regards,
Niki
