Auto populate User Data / Custom Node ID?

Is there a way to automatically populate the User Data fields, specifically the Custom Node ID? I just finished a large tour with Direct Node Access for every node, and it would save a lot of time if the Node IDs for each pano could be automatically generated from the pano's filename. For example, A123_001.jpg would have the Node ID of A123_001, A123_002.jpg would have the Node ID A123_002, etc.
