Hi,

I need some direction in how to do this. In the past I struggled with it also, and never got it really to work. Now I've got a tour that would really benefit from this feature to work.

What I'm looking for is a way to start a background jungle noise when starting the tour, it is an altitude pano so it should be very low volume to almost not noticeable. When progressing through the tour and getting closer to the source off the sound it should get louder. And when getting further away the volume should go down again. On top of that I have a toolbar to turn the background sound off and on again as pleased at all places. When switched off it should stay switched off.

I know I have a view tools like a volume that can be changed and media that can be started, paused or stopped.

I've tried various scenarios, they all have there drawbacks and none off them is giving me the above description.

1) I tried setting the same background-sound in all pano's with different volume levels, this only works for the first opening hotspot, the volume of the first hotspot is fixed in all pano's no changes at all when proceeding in the tour.

2) I tried the same as scenario 1) but then alternating between two background sounds (same sound different name). When the volume has to be changed I use the other background. This works for changing volume. Only when switching the sound off with the toolbar it only stays off in the current pano the next pano the background is played again ....

3) Setting the background-sound only in the opening pano at the lowest possible volume (0,01). Then when making special volume hotspots which set the volume at a particular level changing the volume while jumping to the next pano works, but this will not work with the volume button, also here the main toolbar volume button is only working in the current pano, background-sound turns back on when proceeding to the next pano.

Any thoughts or ideas or examples would be very welcome.

Regards,

Arjan

Hi Arjan,
You can use node markers, set each to set the volume depending which node you are in.

Hi Hopki,

I've looked at your solution, but this is the same as my scenario 3 .... when making a toolbar skin button to mute _background, the sound is turned back on when clicking on the next pano ....

Hi Arjan,
Can you not pause the background sound?

Hi Hopki,

That's exactly what I have now in my toolbar to mute (pause) and turn on (pause/play) the sound. This works for the pano you are looking at, but when proceeding in the tour to the next pano (with the volume changing node-marker) the sound will turn back on again. If somebody does not want the sound on, he has to click to switch off the sound again after every hop.

Another problem/bug (I think) I noticed is that when you set the volume to 0 somewhere (with the initial volume level set to 0 in the _background sound in the first pano or with a node-marker turning it to 0 ) you are not able to turn up the volume anymore .... it looks like the _background playing is also stopped with 0 volume. I can overcome this by setting it to 0.00001 ..... barely noticeable but when cranking up the volume it is still there, I want it to be silent but not stopped .....

regards,

Arjan

Hi,
OK try this project.
If you have the background stop at the start, then in the skin use an init action to play it then you "own" control of the sound.
If it starts to play in the project file then it will play the sound with each node that opens.

Hi,

I see you are using node Markers instead off changing the volume in the hotspot, any reason for that ?

Checked this setup and this also breaks when the initial volume (or somewhere in the tour) is set to 0. When you make a change in the Skin and set "Marker 2" --> "set volume" from 0.6 to 0, the sound is off when switching to Image 2, when switching back to Image 1 it's not coming on again.

Hi Arjan,
Yes but you would have a node marker to stop the sound when you enter this node.
So you can have a button to start the sound but the next time you enter the node, the node marker would turn it back off.
