Hey

I bought pano2vr yesterday so im new at using this specific tool. I create big high quality panoramas, when I want to display them on the web I want to make sure that its high quality as well. I scaled down one equirectangular pano from 20000x10000 to 5000x2500 and made a flash vr but im not happy with the quality. I most probably did something wrong in pano2vr.

1- Does pano2vr scale down tne input image?
2- What should I do to get a crisp vr pano in flash?
3- What is the recommended input equirectangular pano size for a fullscreen 1680x1050?
4- What does "Change stage quality" do? Its not in the wiki.
5- Does using flash9 offer any advantages over flash8?
6- On the attached files you can see that the panoramas are much less sharp than the image I created them from. I set image quality to 90 in pano2vr settings, render quality to 10. Which parameter should I tweak to get them sharper?

hmm interesting, when in "Viewing Parameters" I change the pan, tilt and fov, it asks me if I want to set the current view as the default view. Here is the interesting part: depending on the fov in viewing parameters, my "optimal cube face size" changes. If I zoom out to 90 degrees, pano2vr suggests an optimal size of 480px. If I zoom in to 20 degrees, pano2vr suggests 2722px.

This partly answers my question above regarding crispness.

But heres a new question:
If I want the pano2vr ouput pano to be the same size as the input jpg, how do I calculate the Cube Face Size myself? equirectangular pano width divided by 4? If I feed it a 10000x5000 pano, what cube face size would result in a similar sized image at 100% in the pano? 2500px?

To be exact you need to divide the width with Pi to get the maximum useful resolution. Everything above that is just interpolation and doesn't add more information to the image. If you like to know more you can search the forum because this has been discussed several times here.
Another limit you should keep in mind is that Flash 9.0.115 has a hard limit for cube face sizes of 2880 pixels.
