Hello
1. Any suggestion how to minimize displaying fan-a-like artifacts whichg shows until pano is fully loaded?
It happens on mostly in FireFox on older PCs, while pano is loading.
Take a look into attached photo. Its low res cos I've captured it via teamVIewer.
Specs for PC which produced it: Pentium Dual Core, E5300 @ 2.6 GHz, 2 GB ram
Pano2VR HTML5, Image settings are default ones from version 5 beta:
Jpg quality: 85,
MultiRes,
Level Tile Size: 510
Levels: Auto
I'm using 10000x5000px Equirectangular jpgs made by ptGui as pano source.
Output images in tiles folder are between 10 and 15 mb for each pano, depends on whats in the pano.
2. Also any suggestions for settings for optimal balance between quality and performance?
Thanks
Regards

Hi,
Whats the OS?
If its XP, forget it, also you must remember the process we are using today will not be supported by older OS and hardware.
What your probably looking at is Firefox has black listed the graphics driver.
Google Firefox Black list and see if your card is listed. If it is see if they recommend a driver, if not then sorry no go.
You may need to update/replace your graphics card.
Also Chrome has a blacklist you may want to check out.
Regards,
Hopki

I think Martin is talking about Pano2vr uses WebGL to render panoramas in a browser and this WebGL function and Black list.
So I did a Google Search for Browsers that use WebGL.
Here is a simple listing of browsers that use WebGL. You may need to make sure that your browser is up to date.
http://caniuse.com/#feat=webgl The [GREEN boxes] indicate support for WebGL
Here is a suggested source URL BlacklistsAndWhitelists from Khronos.org regarding video card drivers.

As option - forced crutch on older systems

Hi
Yes it is Win XP. But it's not mine, I'm nerd so I'm running i7 with ton of ram on 27'', so all runs smoothly in all its glory.
Attached photo was from my client's PC.
When I asked which specs they have, I tested pano with many other older PCs.
I asked friends parents and colleagues in various companies. Approx 80% them told me about artifacts.
Conclusion:
- XP is still widely spread. If web is not working, it's much easier for them to switch from old IE
to Chrome of FF, but it's not that simple to ask them to upgrade OS.
That's why asked if artifacts are related to image sizes.
Are these artifacts common to HTML5 or it will be shown in Flash as well? I haven't used Flash at all in P2VR v5 yet.
If not, maybe a solution would be to use both Flash and HTML 5: Prefer Flash if not present - use HTML5.
Logic says that on older computers Flash is still widely spread.
Unfortunately, it's very often that clients have old computers and small screens so they often complain about something purely hardware related.
Question 2 is still unanswered. Do you prefer default "Levels: Auto" settings or use your own?
Thanks,
Regards
