Hello,

more and more I receive requests for making my virtual tours accessible for different disabled people. The big websites are being rated for their accessibility for disabled people and official websites from our federal state mustn't run parts that aren't accessible. So I get more and more problems with my virtual tours.
The main group of disabled persons the sides should be accessible for are people that can't see very sharp. They need big symbols and the possibility to control everything with the keyboard.
So my biggest wish would be that I can choose a hotspot with a key or that always the nearest hotspot is highlighted and I could enter this hotspot with a key.
Looking around is already working with the arrow-keys.
What other possibilities do I have in Pano2VR to make the tour accessible for different kind of disabled persons?

Best regards
Heiko

Hi Heiko,

I've done some work in developing keyboard interfaces with Pano2VR to test the possibilities.

Here is a link to one of the versions https://tonyredhead.s3.ap-southeast-2.a ... index.html

When you go to the URL you can select 'Mouse' or 'K' for keyboard. In the bottom right hand corner is a key icon that shows what key to touch. If you want to see the help menu then its the 'H' key to open and the 'H' key to close help.

In the tour are information popups and videos. In the second node there are both and it is indicated by a video icon and a help icon.

Tapping the 'i' button will open a list of info popups tapping the 'v' button will open a list of videos.

Selecting the number will move the pano to a particular spot on the panorama and then play the video. Clicking 'x' will exit the video.

Note this is just a testing site and not a fully finished product. Let me know what you think.

cheers,

Tony

Hi zitronenwolf,
Pano2VR 7 supports tabbing, also you can assign keyboard keys to elements, for example, a button, as you press the keyboard key, you can activate the mouse actions, be it click, press etc.
For example see: https://ggnome.com/doc/pano2vr/create-s ... #tab-index

Hello,

thanks for the anwers. The most userfriendly thing would be to move vom panorama to panorama like in google street view: the left- and right arrow like in pano2vr and the up-arrow to move to the next available panorama in the viewing direction. The down-arrow moves backwards. How could this be possible in pano2vr?

Best, Heiko

Hopki:

Perhaps a comprehensive video tutorial, covering all the different aspects of making a VR tour meet the American ADA standards (and those of other countries) would be useful to many of us.

Thank you,

Howard

Hi Howard,
If you add two containers, one can have the open next panorama forward action and the other, open next panorama backward action.
You can then assign the arrow keys to move.

The standards are known as WCAG x.x., and there are many versions.
The problem with this is there are no set rules, when looking into this a company wanted to change a fortune to "test" a tour and then only tell us if it passed or not.

But basically, you should be able to navigate the tour and operate all the features using the keyboard as well as the mouse.
All text boxes have the Text to Speach component for the visually impaired.
You can go that extra mile and use variables to change the colour or the text boxes to high-contrast colours.

This should be enough to get it past WCAG.
I would also check, but I think the US also recognises WCAG.

Thanks, Hopki.

However...I still think that one of your fab video tutorials would be helpful.
