set north by exif data and multiple maps

Q&A about the latest versions

Hi,
Trying to learn from Pano2VR trial version.

I would have two questions:

1) Any ways to have north set for each panorama in a tour when adding compass orientation in exif data of each panorama?

2) Could I insert two different maps in each panorama of a tour, for example: OSM and a satellite map?

Thanks for any help.

Regards,
Giuseppe

Hi Giuseppe,
If your images have north set in the Exif data then Pano2VR will read it in.
Or you can correct this in Pano2VR. You just hold down the "N" key then spin the compass by click and dragging in the viewer.
Please see the video on this page: https://ggnome.com/doc/pano2vr/6/panel-tour-map/

You can add two Map elements in the skin, one showing a Google Map and the other showing a floorplan.

Hi Hopki,

Thank you very much!
Just to check if I understood correctly: no way to use two different maps together, e.g OSM and google satellite (or another satellite map)?

You can insert different maps - just rename map_a, map_b... just checked (again) and it works. Play with the script to select "on the fly" which map you want to use.

Here it is a minute setup test for three different maps: www.burger.si/test/3MapsTest/index.html
I don't use Google products so there is no registered API. With some playing with the scripts you can display that what you need

Hi Bostjan:
thank you very much for the example.
I would like to have 2 maps and an icon to activate either one at the user's choice.
I will read the tutorials and documentation to understand how to deal with the script: not sure to be able but I will try.
Kind regards,

Giuseppe

Hi Giuseppe,
Please find attached a couple of map projects built with Pano2VR 6.0.5.

•maps
Displays two maps but one is set to floor plans and the other is set to maps.
The maps one then goes on to display two different maps.

•maps_logic
Does the same but uses a number variable so can show and hide as well as show active map etc.

Hopki

Hi Hopki,

Thank you very much for help.
I will try "to play" with the examples you sent and to learn how to do similar stuff in the projects I have in mind.
Kind regards,
Giuseppe

Hi,

here again for another question regarding maps.
I would like to use the satellite (actually ortphoto) maps fromn Geoscopio, the geographical service of my region, Tuscany. They are free of use and based on a WMS service.
Would it be possible to use in pano2vr as a "custom map"?
Which information I would get from the map service in order to work (i.e. "to pass" to pano2vr)?

Thank you for any help and hints.

Giuseppe

Hi Giuseppe,
Do they provide a map that looks like this:

Code: Select all

http://{s}.tile.openstreetmap.org/{z}/{x}/{y}.png
I had a look on the website but I had to rely on Google translate and did not find the information I was looking for.
Do you have a link to instructions?

Hi Hopki,

Thank you very much for replying.
The service provides maps for various uses. The one I would be interested in is the Ortofoto (i.e. aerial photo).
To have a look please visit:

http://www502.regione.toscana.it/geosco ... ml?lang=en

(actually it is in Italian)

and check ONLY the following on the right window:

ORTOFOTO 1:5000
Anno 2016-32 bit-AGEA_RT copyright Consorzio TEA
OFC - AGEA 2016 20cm - copyright Consorzio TEA

I e-mailed to the office for info about the possibility to include the map in a website.
I showed an example of inclusion of OSM taken from the OSM wiki, using OpenLayer.
In the example there is an URL to OSM.
They advised me to visit:

http://www502.regione.toscana.it/geosco ... EA_TEA.htm

where you may find a url at

Risorse online (online Resources):

http://www502.regione.toscana.it/ows_of ... olution=91&
http://www502.regione.toscana.it/ows_of ... olution=91&

They said to indicate also the following which is in the same page:

Strati (Layers):

OFC 2016 20cm - 32 bit colore - RGB ( rt_ofc.5k16.32bit )

Furthermore I must indicate the coordinate system (they suggested epsg:3003 or any system for WMS would be fine) and also the output map format (they suggested .PNG)
In general they said the maps are based on WMS (while OSM on TILE (TileServer)): I really do not know what that means.

That is all I could get.
I have no idea about the way to proceed. I will ask to a programmer but here it is difficult to find one on this specific field and who is also a programmer of VT.
So I thought it would be fine if I could do that in Pasno2VR.

Should you be able to figure it out how to do, it wiould be very useful for me but .... do not bother too much about that if it is too difficult considering the poor information I got.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Kind regards,

Giuseppe

Hi,

Back again with the same question.
I got information about a way to insert the following satellite maps on a web page via Leaflet:

http://www.lingua.it/carte/Pcn.html
(the map from the National cartographic portal in Italy)
and:
http://www.lingua.it/carte/Geo.html
(the map from Geoscopio, the geographical system in Tuscany).
They both use WMS Layers: on the page source you can find the info I got to display on a web page.
It would be good news if it would be possible to use in Pano2Vr.

Thank you for any help and suggestions.

@hopki this is an old thread, but what Exif field is Pano2VR reading to set North? I have images with GPS Img Direction exif data but Pano2VR shows north as 0 degrees.

Code: Select all

$ exiftool GSAK4379/40.jpg |grep Img
GPS Img Direction Ref : True North
GPS Img Direction : 57.85
